New From Central NJ

Got my 300 SRT-8 last oct
Silver Steel , all options except for Rear Seat DVD
... its been a lot of fun so far.

Did the TSB to get slotted rotors and new pads.... the front wheels are still caked in break dust though

Considered getiing a chip
One service manager said he would honor the warranty so long as he installed the chip, but If I have to go elsewhere for service I may want to disconnect it

Seems to me that it may be detectable even if I unplug it while going in for service

And there is no way I'm gonna void the $3000 chrysler extended warranty I paid for, not to mention the new car warranty

Does anyone have experience with a chip, performance gains, and dealership service issues?

Thanks In advance

Also I have to replace one of the front tires tomorrow
(10,500 miles on it)
If I put a new tire on the same axle as the old tire (10,500 miles of wear) will there be any performance/safety issues ?

Welcome from our LXs in the Ohio River hills of West Virginia! The solution to the brake dust is Centric Posi-Quiet pads found at Dave Zeckhausen's website, one of our supporting vendors. The feel of the pedals is a little softer, but you'll love not having to clean the wheels every day or every other day.

You don't mention the kind of rubber you're rolling... GY F1s or RSAs. If F1s then I might suspect a little performance difference if the companion tread is significantly different (and almost gone as well). If RSAs then I doubt you'll notice any difference, just the same as if you changed any all season radial on any other car.

Can't answer the question regarding a chip, but my take from reading the forum is that it would be better to go with a second programmed PCM rather than a piggyback chip. I'm sure others who have tried either route will chime in with their experience. I don't have any directly.

Welcome to the forums acesrt and congratulations on purchasing a mighty SRT8 beast! As you’ve found out….they are pretty awesome rides! Here are a few threads on chips for the SRT8. I think there have been mixed reviews about chips. However there have been many very favorable reviews of the B & G. Let us know what you decide to do. Good luck!
