newb from houston

hey guys im new here and am about to pull the trigger on either a new 300c srt-8 or a gc srt-8.

i started a thread in srt-8 discussions with questions and a mod told me to come here and introduce myself.

i live in southeast houston and currently own a srt-10 ram quad cab. i just totaled my srt-10 reg. cab.

i have been lurking the forums and researching both vehicles, i am just wanting to make an informed decision.

what are the best mods for the money?

anybody had any problems with their srt?

thanks

Thanks for joining! Always happy to add folks to the forum.

Many here will help you spend your money on a 300 series Chrysler, that's for sure.

Welcome zol. There's actually been very few problems with these cars. Those minor ones have long since been identified and there are TSB's for all of them.

If you're coming from an SRT10 you know about brake dust I'm sure. There are pads available from one of our supporting vendors here if that concerns you.

Mods to do... SRT or 5.7L

Performance:
170 or 180 Tstat (cheap and easy).
25cent fan mod for the track only, or one of many others for every day.
Phenolic Spacers for the intake (definitely good for the SRT).
CAI... Air Hammer, or AFE Stage II (in order of demo'd power recovery).
Specialty oil, and/or fuel catalyst
Centric Posi-Quiet Brake Pads (for MUCH less dust)

Visual and comfort:
Padded arm rests and console cover from 22elite
Stealth Auto turn signal bulbs and Clear side markers
Stealth Auto Ultimate Pedal set (300C or SRT8)

Big buck mods...
Various NAV/DVD/Stereo Systems
Lambo doors
Rims
Coil Overs
Air Bags
Headers
High Flow Cats and Cat Backs
Cams
Turbo or Superchargers (apply due caution)

Welcome to the forum, zol. GoofyTimL pretty much covered what to mod based on cost. I would add that you will want to review the TSB section of this forum, plus the SRT8 section of this forum, for specific info on issues that arise and the fixes found.

I personally have had two TSB's done to my 300C SRT8:

#21-020-06 …. Delayed Or Rough 1-2 shift at WOT After Kickdown (6.1L only) .. (SRT)

And,

#05-006-06 …. Front And/Or Rear Brake Rotors Grooved/Scored .. (SRT)

So far, that's it. No other problems to report.

Regarding mods, I have:

Installed a Cold Air Intake.
Installed an PCV Oil Catch Can.
Installed smoked LED tail lights.
Installed wheel locks.
Installed two Magnaflow 11235 mufflers.
Installed various Billet Technology dress up parts and pieces.

Planned Mods:

Exhaust Resonator Delete.
UCoolit Fan Mod and 180 thermostat. The SRT8 runs a bit too hot for my taste.
Grip Grille, with black medium mesh.
Billet Technology SRT8 Grille Emblem.
KW V1 Coilover shocks.

And I'm sure other things will pop in as I spend more time here on this, and other, forums.

Let us know what you decide. If you buy a 300 and announce it on this forum, Beware!!! The "Pic Whores" will bounce you and demand you post pictures of the car with extreme alacrity.
