Cool New SRT8 Owner in Columbus,OH

hey all,

just want to say hey to all my new 300 family... just picked up a 2006 300srt8 w/ 18k miles and I'm straight loving it... it's the first car I've ever owned that I've actually wanted... all my others were good deals when i needed a car at the time and that's about it...

my only gripe so far is the break squeak which i see is somewhat common so that makes me feel better...

would the break bedding thing be recommended for used stuff, or just for new parts?

c u all around...

Bedding your brakes is a good idea any time they begin to squeal. However, you should look to see if the brake TSB has been performed... you should have slotted rotors if it has been done. If you don't have slotted rotors, then you might have some rotor scoring to deal with as well as the squeal.

Alternatively you can replace the brake pads with those offered by supporting vendor Dave Zechausen (sp) and the excessive dust and squeeling should be a thing of the past.

Welcome pimp! Tim's right, you can bed your brakes anytime they start to squeal. Most of us have switched to DaveZ's Posi Quiet pads. You can get them here - Chrysler 300C SRT8 Products: StopTech big brake kits, stainless steel braided brake lines, tires.

Here's the bedding instructions - Instructions for bedding in your brakes.

Here's the TSB Tim was talking about - http://www.wkjeeps.com/misc/LX/TSB/TSB_0500606.pdf. It's a good idea to print this out in case your dealer tries to brush you off.

You must be very excited about your purchase. The SRT is one, incredible machine as you are discovering. You got some sound advice from GoofyTim and Rambit to deal with your brakes.

Welcome!
