Hi Hd5boy,
First off, let me welcome you to the forum. You should pop over to our European and Diesel pages where all the UK folks (and an assortment of Europeans) meet. Probably about 80% CRD owners in the UK. I would certainly recommend swapping if I were you. The 300C is VERY powerful but still can give you an excellent fuel return. I have heard of folk chipping them and achieving up to 50mpg at a constant motorway speed. They certainly are more cruisers than sports saloons - cornering may not be as positive as in your Jaguar - but it is horses for courses. Comfort - I would reckon the 300C has more than the edge over your Jaguar. Reliability - well Jaguar is a virtual Ford while Chrysler is a virtual Mercedes. In fact if you consider that the engine, auto box, floorpan, suspension, brakes, control computers, electics etc are all ex-Mercedes. The UK cars are built in the Magna Steyr factory in Graz in Austria where they also build certain specialised Mercedes and VW's etc. you have to be on to a winner. We also had the recent acolade of being told thatthe 300C is holding the highest retained value after 2 years. All in all I reckon I would make the move.
Cheers John

Welcome to the forum hd5boy! Many folks would not even consider trading in a Jag for a 300c but we know better! In all fairness to the Jag, it would be important to drive the HEMI to get a proper perspective.

Let us know how it goes for you. The 300c CRD must certainly be a novelty around your country!

Trading a current S-type for a 300C? Definately go for it.

If you had anything else I'd be torn, but just in my own opinion, the S-type is the poorest offering ever made by Jaguar. Not that it's a bad car, but I'm extremely happy to see it getting the boot in favour of the XF.

Hi Chris,
Our American friends have this thing about the Hemi - which no doubt is an excellent varient of the 300C. But they forget that in the UK with petrol (gas) selling at 1 Pound Sterling per Litre at the pumps and diesel more or less the same, fuel consumption and value for money become a very strong consideration when buying a vehicle. Half the running costs when comparing the CRD with the Hemi makes a very strong arguement for going diesel. And as your Jaguar is a diesel too I reckon the CRD is the one to go for. It really only is a matter of chosing a colour and if you wish either of the two option packs which will improve on your ICE equipment, SatNav, sun-roof and trim. Enjoy your visit to the dealers. Just remember and drive it with a big grin - every one else does
Cheers John

Hi Chris,
Where are you based? Obviously in Europe, perhaps (almost certainly) in the UK. Glad to hear you have made the move and by now you should have picked up your car. I hope you are pleased with it. I would stress the driving with a big grin part - all of us do it.
Haven't seen you over posting at the European & Diesel pages so drop in and have a bit natter with the lads.
Cheers John

Hi Chris,
It just dawned on me - I was checking your personal profile and I see you train people to be driving instructors. Your business wouldn't be LDC in Pontefract would it? You should re-set your profile to enable Private Messages whenever you get the chance. Hope you are still enjoying that new car.
Cheers John
