Exclamation SRT8 overheating problem

My name is Fred Clapp and a new subscriber. I own a 2006 300 C SRT8 that I purchased new in Jan. 2006. The car heated up 135 miles from my home and I had the car towed to a Chrysler dealer. (very bad experience at the dealer and this is another story). I was told that the red coolant had coagulated throughout the engine block and that this problem is the subject of an official Chrysler Service Bulletin for srt 8 and Dodge Magnum engines. Has anyone heard of or experienced this serious problem? I am currently attempting to deal with Chrysler Corporation on this; no luck as yet.

Welcome to the forums, fclapp. Looks like jdiddy came to your rescue since some dealerships just don't get it. Hope you'll come back for more participation in the forum.

Welcome from our West Virginia LXs in the Mid-Ohio River Valley!

I don't quite get your post... you got an '06 SRT8, in Jan. '06 and it over heated in 135 miles and was full of gunk. And you're reporting it here today, Nov. '07, like this just happened and do we have any info on it? Sounds a bit "fishy" if you ask me.

However, as others have pointed out, the TSB system flush and replacement coolant with proper additive has solved whatever gunk problem my system was developing... and I had it done within the first 1000 miles... had strong ammonia smell and floaties in my reservoir. Got my MSRT8 in Feb., and the coolant flush was done by the end of May if I recall.

Some have had continuing problems and gone back for multiple flushes. Others have changed to Quantum Blue, high purity coolant.

Well, I have not read through all the TSB's on this. Has anyone overheated due to the cottage cheeze effect? If so I better get with it and get those filters installed.
