Talking Greets from Calgary, AB, Canada!!!

Greetings from the Great White North!!!

I am now the proud owner of a loaded 2005 300C AWD!!! I can say that it's a LOT different than driving my '07 Civic! The 300C is MUCH nicer!

First thing I did was jump onto the forums to find out all the fun that I'm getting myself into! Lots of good posts... I'm in information overload now!

Now I've got tons of questions... Mods, repairs, upgrades. Not to overwhelm, but any info (links to posts, etc) regarding the following topics would be greatly appreciated.

Repairs:
- My NAV system came with version C. I replaced the DVD with version G. Got the green bar across the green showing the update happening. Now I just get DISC READ ERROR from the NAV unit. What can I do? Anyone in Calgary have a G disc that I could borrow to verify that my unit is OK?

Questions:
- Is there an indicator on the 2005 300C showing when the engine is in 4 or 8 cylinder mode?
- I have driver profiles on my car. I know that the seat, pedals, steering wheel and radio presets are memorized. Are the outside mirrors also memorized? Anything else memorized?

Upgrades:
- Is it difficult to add UConnect? I'd like my iPhone linked to my car.
- Was XM/Sirius satellite radio an option? Can it be added? Is it worth it? Never had a subscription to satellite radio before.
- Were heated rear seats an option? Were there any real options for the rear passengers?

Mods:
- Is it possible to add video input to the NAV unit so I can connect a rearview camera, or dvd player?
- Can iPod/iPhone support be added to the NAV?
- Do our cars complain if we switch out various bulbs for LED bulbs? (Tails, turn indicators, etc.)
- Is there a list of tweaks, tricks, etc. for our cars? Hidden option screens, features that are not obvious, etc.
- Can the ECM be tuned to adjust the acceleration more toward economy? Something I don't like on most of my vehicles is how little the accelerate pedal needs to be pushed to get the car moving. I'd like to adjust the acceleration curve for our accelerator pedal.

...so is that enough to start with? No questions about paint colours or suspension tweaks, etc.... YET!

Hello fellow Calgarian.
If you do a search on the forums, there are answers, and posts to ALL of your questions. It's just a little time consuming for anyone here to search for all of those.

I'll give you brief answers:

In regards to the NAV system, some have reported that same issue, when updating their NAV disc. Make sure that the disc is as clean as possible. Clean with soap and water or CD cleaner spray, and a small microfibre cloth. If that doesn't work, use a small can of compressed air to blow out any dust particles that may have settled on the laser of the reader. Use short bursts, and insert the nozzle gently to avoid any damage to the unit. If it's still an no-go, insert your old disc for the time being, and find an earlier version (AD AE AF). It may be a case of a sofware update needed from an older version for the AG to successfully install.

There is a MDS indicator mod that has been done. Do a search and you'll find it. 2008 and later models already have an MDS indicator in the EVIC.

Yes the memory presets save the mirror postions as well. Additionally in the "personal settings menu" in the EVIC, you can enable your mirrors to tilt down in reverse.

Uconnect can be added as a kit from MOPAR, or you can find the OEM uconnect module from another C. you need the rear view mirror with the Uconnect buttons and microphone to make it work. Some people sell complete uconnect take-offs in the buy/sell forum.

The same applies to sirius sat radio. You can buy the kit along with instructions from the Dealer, or another foum member. Heated seats are also an option but not for the rear.

you can enable video/ rear camera input in your NAV with tvnav2go kit, or a REC lockpick kit. Look at the supporting vendors list for Dominic at TVNAV2GO. He has both options.

There is an Ipod interface kit from MOPAR.

The answer to your Mods questions are YES. Hidden menus, mods tip tricks. you can search for all of those here, as well as the lxforums.com Happy hunting, and welcome to the forums.

Hey Tim
If I'm not mistaken aren't you one of the first with an MDS indicator mod?

Thanks for all the info. It was just the what I was looking for.

"MDS", "EVIC", "TVNAV2GO", "Lockpick"... All terms that make finding details MUCH MUCH easier!

It looks like it was a bad disk. Tried another AG disk and now the NAV is working fine.

Going to be putting this in as soon as I can. Just need to find a "classy" location to install the LED.
