Talking New 300C owner from the midwest

Hey everyone! I'm so glad to have found this sight. A couple weeks ago I traded in my Lincoln Mark VIII on a 2012 black on black 300C. I love the car but however my dealership has been a little disappointing. It's not a huge deal but they promised me a 2nd key and then their memory got fuzzy after the contract was signed. A $300 lesson learned. I'm sure there are several of you on this sight that have had similar or worse experiences when buying a car.

A little about me. I'm 37 years old and from West Bend, WI. It's a mid sized town about 30 minutes from Milwaukee. I work in the quality department at the Harley-Davidson powertrain plant and I'm one of the few that can say he loves his job. I can't wait for the 110th anniversary party this summer. I do ride, but at the moment I'm on a 2007 MV Agusta F4. A crazy fast crotch rocket. I'm hoping in spring to trade it in and get back on a hog again. To hold me over in the winter months I'm into riding my snowmobile. For those of you in the warmer climates that haven't tried it you don't know what your missing.

Please be patient with me as I am new to posting in forums. If I make mistakes please feel free to coach me along the way.

George

Welcome from OH!

There are many of us that love our cars but hate our dealerships. I too only got one key and learned the lesson.

But that's why the forums are so helpful - we could have saved you a few bucks on a replacement key. Feel free to ask questions here!

And by the way, it would be a good idea for you to buy a valet key - you can get them cheap on ebay. They are just a plain key - no fob for power doors, etc. But they do have the chip inside. And as long as you have TWO keys, you can always program a third on your own. If you only have ONE key, you have to go to a dealer and pay them.

So while you have two functional keys now, buy a valet key and program it... and then store it somewhere safely. That way, if you ever lose one of your fobs, you only need to buy a cheap uncut fob, have it cut, and program it yourself. Hope that makes sense.

Congrats on the new ride and welcome to 3CF!

Thanks for all the welcomes! I'm glad I became a member. Not much I can say about the dealership at this point. It seems there are very few honest ones. I would recommend to anyone buying a car to try a private sale first. You will probably get a better deal and save yourself some heartburn at the same time. Either way I still love the car and can't wait to participate more in these forums.

Fisch, can you send me a link or let me know the best spot to buy replacement keys with the fob?
