Accidentally ended up in a car show

I went to see this show in Mamaroneck NY today. Got into a line for admissions. Then tons of hot cars piled in behind me. (There was a non descript mustang in fromt of me, so I thought he was going in to watch as well)

Next thing you know, I'm at the registration desks. They tell me I am too new to be in the show. (Cutoff is 2000) I say I am only there to watch. Meanhwile it's a single file lane with no turnaround ability. Then these guys pow wow and come back and say I can go in the Open Class but I cannot be judged. I didn't care since I was only going to watch anyway.

So I drive down to class 38 way at the end in a corner about 50 feet from the baseball infield of the park (DUST CITY)

Next thing you know a guy in a 2003 T Bird pulls in next to me. Same situation, only he also had a 53 Studebaker in the show, so they let him bring his other car in. Then on the other side, a 2004 GTO pulls in. Same thing with him. (It was a fund raiser so I guess everybody's money is good.

A few late 90's Musangs and cobras filled in our row and then a new viper, and that was that.

I do have to say though that the T Bird and the GTO got NO PLAY AT ALL. Everyone was hangin' out at the old 300C or the Viper (A BIG WIN FOR MOPAR) . Of course here I am with about 6 California Dusters going continuously with all that dust (Hope I didn't screw up my paint)

In any event , here are some pics

I got some great shots of the car, Me ,my oldest son Mike, the retro row (Tbird.me and the goat) and a MINT 1958 300 D Hemi convertible (one of OUR 300 GRANDADs)

Here goes:

NO TROPHY BUT I GOT MUCHU GOOD COMMENTS ON MY RIDE AND THE 300's IN GENERAL. All in all it was a great day.

Chas

NIce Pics, Chas. Your ride looks right at home there.

Isn't it amazing how our "new" luxury muscle cars draw so much attention?

The GTO next to your Hemi looks like it has a water thin paint job, and the 10 year old Grand Am front is pitiful, maybe I won't buy those GB bonds after all.

Bright sun did it

The GOAT was actually a fairly nice silver with a brick red and ligher silver interior. It looked pretty nice on the inside. But there were apparently a lot of GTO purists wandering around and they just ignored it.

Thanks, Chas, for that great story. A big win for you, & Mopar in general, for sure, even without a metal trophy (you've got the pics). And I always enjoy seeing the father/son aspect come through in these posts as well.

It was lots of fun and a prefect day

Next week there is a get together in Long Island, about an hour from me.. It's a weekly thing with plenty of hot rods and apparently a fair showing of LX cars.

Might try that. Still trying to get my stainless steel under the hood goodies finished. If I go I'll send more pics of me and our LX cousins

What time do you have to be out there

I'm about an hour or so from the OBI. Do you have to get there super early??

CoolVanilla said about 8:Am, I got there @ 9:15. The place was jammed packed I hung out for about 1 hour then went to work for a while. I went back @ noon to see whats up and by then it was over except for a few bikers. Let me know later this week if you are comming down or not so we can maybe hook up. Also I hope that CoolVanilla will be there to help with a L.I. welcome. Caio
