One of the instructors at the SRT Track Experience at Beaver Run lives right next to LRP. I asked him if there was any chance that one of the 2006 events would be held there. He said it would be ideal since the original "Skippy Skool" (Skip Barber school) is located there and they would have all the facilities. I'd sign up in a heartbeat if they did as my only track experience there was a bunch of parade laps and a few "informal open laps" in my bugeye sprite. Who knows, maybe NR might be able to sneak past the Border Patrol to get in for that one

Rick, maybe we could organize a "Skippy" day at LR for LX owners - maybe even let Caddies and Stangs come play with us?

What do you think?

I'm in for Lime Rock, but I need instruction first.

If we set the day up through the school, the morning could have instruction running for those with little or no on-track experience. The advanced guys could run in-between the instruction runs (tend to keep track time per heat down to about 20 minutes).

After lunch, we could all run 3 "performance lapping" (no passing in corners) heats. Cars run staggered out of the pits at 15 second intervals to start. the fast guys are usually up front, and are lapping slower drivers after 3 or 4 laps.

Lime Rock is in north western Conneticuit. here's the web: http://www.limerock.com/index.htm

Here is a link to the Skip Barber School:
http://www.skipbarber.com/locations/lime_rock_park.aspx

Anyone who lives in New England, NYC area, Ontario or Quebec can access this beautiful course within a day.

I can call the school on Monday and see what can be set up. If anyone is interested, post back so we have an idea of numbers.

We run our own cars. That way we get to find the limits on a nice smooth wide track. If you click on my Day at the Track sig it will give you an idea of the experience.

I drove my car at Sears Point (aka Infineon) in Sonoma CA on 9/7/05. Best Day Ever! Pay whatever they charge. Drive it fast and hard. Get lots of gas: I got about 4mpg and went through 2 19 gallon tanks. I ran out of gas twice on the last lap, and coasted into the pits.

Jim Russell Racing School = $495

Two tanks of premium = $140

New left front tire (melted) = $295

The look on other drivers faces when I caught up to, passed, and occassionally lapped. PRICELESS

Drive your own car. Try auto vs manual shifting. Try ESP on vs off. This 4180 lb fire breathing behemoth is PERFECTLY balanced 55/45 front and rear.

I had my best laptimes shifting in automatic, with every ESP, ABS, Torque Management, Yaw Control, DLDRITW (Don't Let Dan Run Into The Wall) system in the full ON mode.

I sucked up so many "Faster", Lighter, smaller cars in one day, on a track, all nice and legal, with 17 other drivers with NICE cars. Mine was the Big, Black, Non- Aerodynamic Behemoth, that drives like a F*#@*ng RACE CAR, with the Kicker Stereo Blasting Ted Nugent and the sun roof open.

Talk about Priceless!

Any chance you get, take her out to the track. JMO

TERIFFIC!
NR -- we will be there. Your day at the track report was great! The mag SRT8 is actually my superior officer's car (my wife). Not sure how both of us will participate, but will work that our later. Maybe I'll bring the 98 camaro SS convertible 6spd if we both go. Side note: Other than the convertible aspect, I enjoy the mag much MUCH more! And it feels much more composed at speed than the camaro. I actually said to my wife that i would consider selling the camaro now. never thought i would say that, but an additional 100+ HP has kind of corrupted me....

NR,

I'm a tentative. I'd much rather track one of the SRT Track Experience cars than my own in case I roll it into a giant ball of steel I won't be making $48k worth of payments on it. I'd bring out the Bugeye to nip at the heels of the big dogs, though. Maybe we ought to move this to its own thread so we could get a better idea of how many people might be interested?
