Thumbs up Cold Air Intake

Has anyone changed their cold air intake on the 5.7 Hemi. I see that there are some for sale on eBay as well as K&N.

If so has there been an increase in HP, MPH? What degree of difficulty is it to remove the stock unit and replace the after market version.. Thanks in advance.

...........................................Hi, I installed the Volant CAI and I am very happy with the results. There are conflicting views on the difference in Horsepower and MPH, some say there is no gain except the roar that it gives when you step on it, others like me do feel a big change in power. In my opinion it was a good mod and down the road when I upgrade the exhaust system it will even do better. Install was easy as I watched my mechanic work on it, this system has a pipe that sucks air through the bottom vent under the grill. Good Luck.... Big Bob

The different intakes add nothing more than some nice sound to your car. You can
go to our sister site, and see the results for yourself.

There, they did a face off of the different CAI intakes, put them on the same car,
and dyno'ed each intake after doing a baseline dyno with the car with its stock
intake, and compared the results.

The stock intake is just as good as any aftermarket intake. As a matter of
fact, some aftermarket intakes, like the Volant, actually LOST HP over the
stock intake! The only one that made any gain in HP was the K&N Aircharger,
and that made only a 3 HP gain over the stock intake on only one of the
dyno runs.

And all the aftermarket intakes lost some torque on the dyno runs over
the stock set-up!

Unless you really must have a louder intake, save your money for some real mods
that add real power to the car, like a cat-back exhaust, or some headers, or a Jetchip.

Here is the intake face off results. Read them for yourself.

You could also look into removing the Air Silencer Box.Dyno's that have referred to have shown that there's no diference between that and aftermarket CAI's.It's a diy item,or if you prefer, download instructions, take them to a local shop ,and in 1/2 hour it's done for under $60.00.And essentially you then have a perfectly good CAI system that draws the air from below.
and does give you a "sweet"sound ( that is not noticed after you open the exhaust).
