Here's the latest NJ State Police Initiative (Radio Station 101.5 FM confirmed this info).
Starting today, New Jersey will launch a 30-day speeding ticket frenzy.
The state estimates that 9 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets. One million dollars will go to pay state troopers over-time.
There will be 50 state troopers on duty at all times patrolling the 9 main intersections and highways as follows:
I-295 North and South,
I-95 Jersey Turnpike North and South
I-80 East and West
I-287 North and South
I-78 East and West
I-195 East and West
I-280 East and West
Route 130 - North and South
Garden State Parkway - North and South
5 MPH above the=2
0limit can justify a ticket and every state trooper is supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10 to 20 minutes.
They have issued 30 brand new unmarked Crown Victoria cruisers and are bringing in all of their part-timers on full time. If you work in NJ, NY, DE or CT, you will probably be on one of these highways. So, please be on guard and drive safely!
Starting August 15, the price of a violation to show your driver's
license, registration or insurance card at the time you are stopped,
increased from $44.00 to $173.00. (Keep these documents in your car).
And the fine for not having all three documents is $519.00!
The fine for hand-held cell phone use while driving will be going up to $180.00.

Translation: The state is heavily over budget and this is one way we can find to tax taxpayers without additional backlash.
God damn I hate cops. Who got bullied so much in high school that they figure they want to go into the career that will get them the most power and most hated?

Why do you hate the police so much? Have they done something terrible to you or your family? Don't tell me you hate them just because they do their job.
Hopefully the money they raise won't just be used to pay the troopers overtime. Maybe they can use some of that money for public schools or another worthy cause. Either way, it sounds like they are getting greedy with their ticketing policy. I've never heard of the "one ticket every 20 minutes" rule.
I'm in Canada. Our crime rate is remarkably lower than that of the US. Our cops have pretty much nothing to do, and even when there is something, they bugger up the investigations and evidence gets thrown out. 95% of our cop work is traffic violations, which in the grand scheme of thing, is nothing important at all.
Have I ever needed cops? Yep. Twice. Failed me both times. Had to call private security for one incident and had to take care of the other one myself. Oh, and I get harrassed all the time for being a young kid driving a nice car. I've been harrassed since I was 16 driving a car with more money invested in it than these guys make in a year. Oh, and I was charged with drunk driving in Peterborough - while I was on vacation in Cuba. Go go po-po!
So yeah, I think I've got good reason to hate cops.
