Veteran's Day

To all who have served and to all who are presently serving, I want to say "Thanks" and wish you a Great Veteran's Day. I hope all goes your way.
To those who have friends and/or loved ones who have lost thier life in the service of thier country, I want to also say " Thanks, we DO appreciate the sacrifice made by them and by you."

I salute all of you.

Thanks for the link. My families thoughts and prayers go out to all those on active duty, all those recovering from wounds, and those few and their families who have made the ultimate sacrifice. We honor your courage every day, and make special notice of it today!

Gang,

Being a Viet Nam veteran I would like to thank all of you for the well wishes and for the acknowledgement of all of us that have served in all conflicts that our country has been involved in over the past 228 years to keep us all FREE.

Thank you,

As a 13 year veteran of the Cdn forces, this is Remembrance Day in Canada and Commonwealth countries. The Cdn Mint put out a special coin (quarter) this year which has a red poppy in the center. I guess this is the first time anywhere where a colour was used on a coin. It was a nice touch and all proceeds go to veterans of all our wars and peacekeeping ventures.

Like to share this with all of you in this thread --

On Nov 2, my computer died and I went to the local Best Buy to purchase a new one. The young man helping me was obviously sight handicapped with rather heavy lenses and could never have served in any military service. We talked and discussed my computer needs in a computer, etc.

Finally, after settling on a computer (HP a370n Pavillion cpu, 3.0gHz, 200 gigs HD), the salesman said to me, "was I in the service?" I replied, "What do you mean?, in the military? Not currently, but I was retired military, why"

He said, "I noticed your USMC ring and just wanted to shake your hand for having served." Dumfounded, I shook his hand and managed out a "Geez, thank you very much."

After being spit at after the Korean War and especially after the Viet Nam War (and after enduring both Jane Fonda's and John Kerry's antics as hippies while I was still serving there), it felt good to have someone say "thanks" for a change.

Likewise, so it does here with the feelings expressed by those of you who entered these posts. So, on the behalf of those of us who served and are serving, THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR CARING.

Miles
