Happy pre-Fourth of July. More fireworks planned from the Chrysler Group tomorrow, July 1st in Daytona Beach, Fla.

If you're in the area, stop by the Volusia Mall, across from Daytona International Speedway at 12:30 P.M. on Saturday, July 1st for a major product announcement involving Chrysler Group President and CEO Tom LaSorda, and Chief Operating Officer, Eric Ridenour. The address is 1700 W. INT'L SPEEDWAY BLVD. The event is outside in the parking lot.

I'm guessing the announcement that the Challenger will be produced for next year, no, we all know that. Anything else? Maybe they'll be producing the Imperial and have a revised, cleaned up, even more awesome looking concept car there? Aww if only :\

It was the "official" confirmation that the Challenger was going to be built. A lot of people "assumed" that it would be, but until now DCX had never stated for sure that they would. Also, it put to rest the rumors of WHEN exactly it was going to be available for sale and what model year, speculation had ranged from "2008" to "2009" to "2010" to "they will never build it". The surprise was that it is going to come out as a 2008 model - in calendar year 2008, no one had guessed both of those facts together.
