Thank you Rambit! And the friendship of our ally to the north is much appreciated as well. Here's a pic of our patriotic interior wall...

And a Mission Flag, which flew in Iraq, and Mission Plaque from LXforums member Apache, given a place of honor in our room as well.

Our prayers are with our troops wherever they are to provide security, hope and an opportunity for freedom and liberty around the world. And our sincerest thanks for those who gave their utmost in service to their country... and to their families.

We don't do enough in the way of flag waving up here IMO. We just had our Canada Day on Saturday, and other than the fireworks, which were a day late due to windy conditions on the 1st, you'd never know it was Canada Day. I was at a party that night with Federal, Provincial & local government elected officials, including the mayor of my city. There was no mention of it and NOT ONE FLAG to be seen. Now that's deplorable!

There was probably more Canada Day activity in an around Wash, D.C. The WashPost said the embassy sponsored some activities, and all the Canadians undisguised their out and about accents at least for a day.

Thank you, Rambit, for starting this thread on Independence Day.

May everyone safely enjoy their freedom celebrations as we give thanks to all who have contributed to making this country truly the Land of the Free because of the Brave!

Happy 230th Birthday America from Shaver Lake, California!
