For future reference. Download http://www.irfanview.com/. You can resize or manipulate your pictures in any way. I use it all the time.

Put your pics on Adobe and you could re size them. Then save them on " my computer" file. Then when you go to the user cp and click onto edit avatar. Click on the browse and your file will pop up with all your saved pics.
