Superformance MK3?

I imagine there are a lot of auto guys and gals in here... SO, I am asking the question here...

Does anyone have or know of anyone with a Superformance MK3? If so, what do you know of it? #? Do you/they like it? What engine/tranny does it have?

Thanks for any help... Unfortunately the Superformance Owners Forum is almost a private club membership thing. If you dont have 1, they dont let you into the Forum!? Seems stupid to me, not to want to invite others into your community, but these idiot have it set up that way!

Happy Holidays Folks!

Never to let it be said that the 300C group is not helpful.

LuvaLava,..... I KNOW the website... I wanted to see if anyone actually had the car or knew someone who had the car! They come as a rolling chasis and I really am interested in engine and tranny combinations and what some owners thought of the choices they had made. 427 vs 351W or C? Tranny's?

I can read all I can on the net, there is quite a bit there, but no where can you get real world info from an onwers group without being an owner!

I looked seriously into the whole replica thing about a year ago.

Use the Superformance website to locate your nearest dealer, contact that dealer and have him give your contact info to some customers because you are thinking of buying one, then wait for the phone to ring.

The local Factory five builders here, (Not the same planet as Superformance) have regular get togethers, I met about 10 guys at a breakfast about a week after I started looking.

Good luck.

I am currently getting some info sent out from the Superformance OH dealership.

I agree with you... the Factory 5 replicas are not even close to what you get with a Superformace rolling chasis. Matter of fact, I am not sure I would call a Superformance car a replica... doesnt do it justice.

SO, did you make the jump on a car then?

I am looking into it for about a year form now. I am just trying to gather info on engine and tranny options for what I plan to use the car for. Mainly just cruising backroads and occassional track days.

I would LOVE a big block 427, but I am not sure what the weight would do to a car that size, and how it would handle. For sure I would be looking at a new build then to make sure the car was built to handle the load.

BUT, I also have heard of cars with slightly stoked and bored 351's to say 402 or even 427, which handle well over 500hp. Slightly less weight. I am not looking for a superlight 1900# car here, I just dont want to toss in a big block in and be sorry I did it later on.

Make sense?

I never jumped. The Superformance were running about $40,000 minus engine/drivetrain, and I can't justify that for a weekend driver right now.

The Factory five, on the other hand, was not close enough to what I really wanted.

I did decide to go big block, though. After you get used to whatever you put in there, you will want more oomph. No sense regretting not getting the big block, right?

I hear you, but I am hearing there is a point of minimal returns... a small block with 500hp vs a big block with 500hp...

I think I am gonna keep looking and hopefully find some local owners who might take me for a ride and let me know what they think.

I am itching to get out on a track with one.
