Thumbs down Ford/GM Merger???

Great. Just what we need, uninspired cars that won't start.

Senior executives at General Motors Corp. (GM.N: Quote, Profile, Research) and Ford Motor Co. (F.N: Quote, Profile, Research) have discussed a merger or alliance that would bring together the No. 1 and No. 2 U.S. automakers, according to newspaper reports on Monday.

Note they made a mistake. Toyoto is now #2.

I think that Ford is still No. 2 but has said they expect to fall to No. 3 soon.

So what will the new company be called. General Ford.

Next thing you know there will be Ford Monte Carlo's and Chevy Taurus's hitting the showroom floor. LOL.

Or Ford Camaro's and Chevy Mustang's.

Just the sounds of those models makes one want to hang the keys up…..damn, talk about uninspired cars!

Wouldn’t all this talk have to fly by the anti trust people in the government? After all they are supposed to be an oligopoly with rules.

Not all that surprising that they are talking . . .

Toyota is poised to take over #1 in sales. Bill (I have the key to but can't find the executive washroom) Ford just resigned as CEO at Ford. Both GM and Ford have over capacity and are racking up losses. Both are saddled with huge pension liabilities.

Both might Chapter 11 and flip assets into an new enterprise. The argument for cost saving is very compelling . . .

Meanwhile, DCX is making money, increasing market share by building some very interesting and reliable cars. Do you think that GM and Ford have forgotten something in the process?
