Just venting

So last week I'm on my way home from the office when the inevitable happens. I just got on the freeway when I notice that the car is pulling to the right. The first thing I think is "crap, I dont have a spare". I get off at the next ramp and pulled right over to start making some phone calls. Luckily Allen Tires was a block away and they had exactly the Hankook I needed. I almost changed all the tires with the 30's, but decided to save my $1500. (Hey turbo is coming soon). So, thats not what I wanted to vent about. Today, I'm going to grab an early lunch. I was going very slow down the street I was on in Placentia when a cop that just passed me decides to turn around and pull me over. "Okay" I think. "I have nothing to hide". So I pull over just to have them call for back up, get me out of the car, search me, search my car and hold me for about a good 30 min. just to say that they pulled me over because I dont have a front lisence plate. "Get a front plate and have a nice day" he says. Well, I'm glad I have my 3CF members to make me feel better.

You go right ahead and vent…..its good for the soul. Damn, they do all of that just for a front plate missing? I would hate to see what would happen if you really did something bad. “Quick, grab the portable electric chair, we’ve got to hurry and fry this one up for missing his front tag!” Do you suppose there may have been a crime committed in the area? Sorry it happened to you, do you have to pay a fine?

No offense, but given what that car looks like, I can see why they were thorough. Ever hear of profiling? Works with cars as well.

Same thing happened to me beginning of August. Driving through Lake In The Hills, where I live, going to drop my 10 mo. old daughter off. Cop is sitting in park on the side of the raod, it's about 10am or so and he pops the cherries. Long story short, I get a warning ticket for no front license and front tinted windows, have untill August 28th to pull the tint and add plate. I even dropped a couple of officers names that I know, no good. Moral is that they just want a reason to pull you over, our cars look hot and everybody associates them with pimpmobiles for some reason, so get used to it. No front plate of tint removal....hahahaha! They can kiss my .............., when they make my payment for me, they can decide how my ride rides!

Just goes to prove the classic point of, "There's never a cop around when you need one and they're always around when you don't." Sorry to hear about the tire. Hope your ride is running well now and everything's back to normal.

Sorry to hear of the tire and the cop problem... That totally bites when that happens with the cops. I hope they asked you if they could search your vehicle. If they did you can say no; and they can't search the vehicle. Unless of course they just saw you running a deal. But of course, like any law abiding person, you have nothing to hide. That just happened to me last weekend while I was in LA for the SC/Nebraska game. I don't have a plate up front on my C320; and heading towards the SC campus... When low and behold the LAPD cruiser flipped a U and on the bull horn telling me to pull over to the right. BTW, 2 other cars beside me had no front plate. I told them they couldn't search my car unless they have a search warrant... No fix it ticket issued either. But complete waste of time as they ran everything through. His partner just stood there as we chatted about the upcoming game, and telling me how my type of car is frequently stolen in the area. But in my case, definitely a bit of racial profiling...

yep, that was profiling alright. they probably thought u were a drug dealer and i bet they were mad when they found out u were clean...cops like that usually are jealous because when they get off their shift they have to hop in their ford focus or something.

i was parking in my friends apartment complex about 2 in the morning, when 2 cops on foot rushed around the corner and started to ask all kinds of questions like "what are you doing here?", "what do u do for a living?" oh and the infamous "do u mind if we search your car?" i told them no and they started all this b.s. talk, and i was like "go ahead, i have nothing to hide"..they searched me and my car not once, but twice..i guess they thought they may have missed something the 1st time..phukin haterz!! i saw 1 of them a few days later hopping in his rusty, faded red 92 v4 mustang..go figure.

iwakethenibake, I'm out in the River Oaks/Galleria area... The cops in the area have been cool with me here. When I was bedding the slotted rotors on a road near the railroad tracks, one kept his lights on for me until I was done -- just in case another motorist came on the road. A car guy helping another car guy... There's always nice people out there. But when I'm in H-town, I'm usually dressed up for the office. When I'm wearing a t-shirt and cap; is when I get into problems with LAPD especially when I'm cruising in a decent car around the SC campus. I don't have those problems once I get back to Manhattan Beach though... We all have to deal with idiots every now and then...
