Straight line tracks in NC?

I'm hoping there are enough 1/4 mile racers to know the answer to these questions. 1 - what's the nearest 1/4 mile track to Charlotte? 2 - someone once told me about an airport that has an annual 1 (or maybe it was 2, I forget) mile race. Anybody know what track that might be?

This is an old old thread, but just in case you never got your answer, the closest 1/4 mile track to Charlotte is Rockingham Dragway. It is approximately 1 1/2 hours away.

Thanks for the answer. That's quite a distance away. That seems absolutely nuts to me since here in MD we have 1/4 miles tracks within that kind of range. I would have expected the Charlotte area to be more deserving of the City of Mooresville's nickname Race City USA. I guess the 1/8 mile track about 7 miles down the road from me (Mooresville Dragway IIRC) will do.

I don't suppose you know about that airport do you?
