Arrow Anyone Have This Cell Phone?!?!

Ok, i'm fed up with my Razor phone. It sucks. I'm on my 3rd one since december '05. The screens keep going out and cutting off and not powering on (once for about 4 hours). My second one stopped working 29 days after purchase. Anyway, i called Cingular and talked to a really nice lady and she helped me out by crediting my account for 150 dollars so i could just go down and buy a phone and pay the difference. Since i wasn't even closely eligeble for contract renewl and the reduced rate phone. This phone also has a 100 dollar rebate. So it will end up costing me $75

I'm looking at the Sony Ericsson W810i. I'm just starting research and thought i'd give you guys a first shot. I like the phone for the 2MegaPixel Camera among other options. It has a 128mb memory (woth about 25 songs) upgradable to a 1gig.

Here is a pic of the phone. more can be found in the link below!

Overview
Powerful music player with everything you need for music. Enjoy the 128MB memory-enough for approximately 25 songs. Get additional storage for songs and more by upgrading to the 1G stick to download whatever you need. You can go global because it's loaded with Quad-band, EDGE, and a complete music kit to fill your vagabond hours. It's a digital music player, FM radio, plus it has music management software to bring in your music. The 2-megapixel camera takes photos and records video, too. Surf the internet browser and enjoy multimedia messaging to send pictures, video, and sounds. A data cable is included to make it easy to connect to your PC.
Included Features

* Music and video streaming
* Walkman® music player- MP3, WAV, AAC
* 2 MP camera with 4x zoom
* Video recording and playback
* Bluetooth® wireless capable
* Media player with FM radio
* Up to 30 hours of music playing
* Synchonize songs with your pc
* Download ringtones, games & graphics
* Instant messaging - AOL®, Yahoo!®, ICQ® & MSN®
* Multimedia messaging- send text, videos, & sound
* Music stereo headset
* Java 3D Gaming
* Speakerphone
* Data cable included

Get Started | Cingular Wireless

Any opinions or experiences would be great!!!

Thanks guys
Justin

Since I feel like the cell phone I use is similar to the one below I don’t think you would like my advice. However, my neighbor raves about his razor cell phone….but says it doesn’t stay charged very long. I want to start using my Uconnect…..do you have that on your SRT8? This phone you're looking at I see is bluetooth capable...which would mean what in regards to our uconnect?

If it's bluetooth it *should* work. I tried it with my LG and it works pretty well. I just wish I could pick up my phone and talk (after answering) and kill the speakers if I want to go private without killing the call.

Danno, My razor is bluetooth capable and works well with the UConnect. Just connect to the car (uconnect and talk away)

Happy, you can do that with the razor. During a call you can go to the menu and select use phone, or private and it kills the bluetooth connection. It works in vise versa, mid call, menu/options and select 'use bluetooth'

I love the actual phone as far as features. Just hate the fact that it's my 3rd one and need another one with this one F'n up currectly. I have too many pics and vids and phone numbers to lose it all due to phone malfunction.

The phone you listed comes w/ a data cable (obviously meant for music/video transfer, but do you know if it syncs up w/ any email programs. Even if it died in the future, you'd be able to sync the Contacts from email to your phone easily. Also, can't remember, but do Cingular phones use SIM cards? If so, you should never have any problem losing phone numbers if your current or new phone dies. Rarely will the SIM be affected by anything crazy going on inside your phone. Looks like a nice phone. If they'll let you, try using it w/ your UConnect before buying just to make sure it'll work 100%. BlueTooth is still a flaky technology and with so many proprietary attempts at BT, not all BT is the same. I'd wanna make sure it works before buying. Just my .02

Well, see the problem with the sim card (yes, cingular uses them) is that on my phone, to save a picture to a name so that the pic appears when the persno calls, you have to save the number to the phone instead of the sim. So when your phone and/or screen goes bye bye... so do your numbers that were saved to the phone. In another thread on LXF, Bandit said this phone (he just got) worked great with UConnect!

That sucks. I guess it would be to much of a PITA to save the numbers and corresponding pics to the phone and then also save the name/number to the SIM? Just a thought. Try to find out if the new phone will sync w/ a Contacts list of some sort (either proprietary software that comes w/ the phone or to email program ie Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, etc...)

Thanks for that bit of information Justin I’ll have to check into this phone if it works good for you. You can be our guinea pig.

Good idea notyeta300cowner (you’ve got to get a shorter name! ) about seeing if it works with bluetooth. I’ve seen several threads that people’s Bluetooth wasn’t compatible with Uconnect or they had some kind of trouble.
