Trying to confirm. IS Chrysler's 2006 inventory really down that much?!

You know it's auto show time when the car haulers arrive at Cobo Hall and the fur starts flying between automakers.

In a Friday meeting between The Detroit News and several Ford officials, the discussion turned to the Chrysler Group and what the ever-creative PR team in Auburn Hills will come up with this year to highlight vehicle debuts at the North American Auto Show.

Chrysler is known for crashing a Jeep through a plate glass window and bringing out screen siren Eva Longoria to show off the Imperial concept in recent years.

To that George Pipas, Ford's head of sales and marketing analysis, offered this suggestion: "They need to get David Copperfield to make all that excess inventory disappear."

CEO Tom LaSorda could reply that he's already waved his magic wand. Chrysler's sales bank -- once 500,000 cars deep -- is now below 10,000.

Is that true?!

The only thing that may point to that one is a recent post from Grunt who works at the Brampton plant. Apparently they didn’t have their extended “vacation” time as once was predicted. So that particular factory is running.

Brampton is getting 3 consecutive weeks off. Last 3 in January. Probably a couple in march.

You’re right Jimmy and Grunt just posted an update to the thread I mentioned up above. That sucks. So Craig I have no idea what they have for inventory. Sounds pretty incredulous to me.

No way. I find it hard to believe that they have sold that many cars so soon, but you know income tax checks are starting to fly out right now.

they have certainly sold a lot here!!! no more at the dealerships!!! they are a rare commodity around these parts

Well, all the year end incentives did move a lot of cars in Dec... a record number of 300s in fact, but moving 29.5k vehicles, wouldn't put much of a dent in an overstock of several 100k...
