To quote from the article....

"They're going to be our exclusive partner in the US -- it's a unique partnership though. We're going to be doing innovation together. We worked on visual voicemail, the first fruit of this collaboration. We'll be selling iPhone through our own stores and Cingular stores."

"We are changing the way companies work together. Apple and Cingular have a multi-year exclusive partnership....."

Cool to see so much positive here about it As much as I like it, I don't think I could possibly afford the service (cingular's cheapest contract plans cost too much for me). Hey, being frugal is how the car fits!

I'm pretty sure the battery will be replaceable, even in most iPods it's replaceable just with a little effort - on the newer ones anyway, my 4 year old iPod all you have to do is give a little sideways pressure to the back, and then use something like a credit card to pop the back panel off, battery is laying on top of the sandwich and easily changed.

Newer ones, it's harder, and I bet if the iphone's battery WAS concealed it'd be a tough cookie, but since an exchangeable battery is a given, I doubt they'd do that! Besides, there IS a black cover on the back of the phone where I suspect the battery is.

It's funny, I didn't even realize until someone posted some specs on another board that it had a camera, which is 2MP, and the screen is fairly decent res as well.

I bet it'd work awesome with the mac mini carputer I wanna put in our 300c >_>

BTW kidcoastal I know I've said this before but I LOVE the way your car looks in your sig.

Now, back to that other thought.. Chrysler being the car equivalent to Apple? I wish. The LXes are awesome, and the challenger will be a wonderful retro throwback, but Apple doesn't make Sebrings or Pacificas

It is nice that they kept the LXes as really modern (rather sophisticated) cars without screaming this out at you - we have 0-60 timers, almost every type of digital gauge option, and some other random neat things that only the snazzy cars have, and with much more commotion. Yet our cars just work, you get in, turn key - and if you put your belt on and release the parking brake (foot on brake of course), you won't get a single F-ing ding or beep, just pure hemi fireup.

I'm pretty sure Apple would have thought about all of that if they designed a car. Maybe chrysler isn't as bad as I thought? lol.

The Apple/Cingular agreement lasts until 2009. Hopefully people will learn how to unlock them well before that and you can pick one up on ebay.

I'm sure they've learned from previous battery mistakes and will make this one easily interchangeable. I love the display, reminds me of the optimus keyboard I've been waiting almost 2 years for. All the keys are programmable OLEDS... freaking sweet. If you check out their other stuff on the link they have a 3 button version available I'm thinking about integrating into my carputer.

Optimus keyboard

I've seen that keyboard before, and I WANT it!!!! Gotta Love Technology!!!

Oh and by the way it looks that Apple is being sued about the iPhone as Cisco already has a product out called the iPhone, cant wait to see what happens there...
