I vacation there all the time on South Beach.... PM me an e-mail and what you like to do... I can definitely help you out. There are a lot of things you need to know. And beware as the cabbies are very agressive drivers. Lot's of cars you see out there are torn up!!

The best thing to do is to stay at a hotel in south beach as close to ocean ave as possible , the LOWES (A++) ,Crown plaza are very nice hotels less then 5 min walking time from ocean ave, were all the clubs are, there are also shopping promenades with plenty of stuff to do and eat for any price range in the area, if your in south beach the best way to get around is to rent a vespa for about 35-60 dollars for every 24 hours(no helments req, So you still look cool) This i found more fun then renting a car, and much easier to park. You can ride all over south beach with the Vespas park them back at the hotel then go out for the night and be able to walk back if you drank to much at Club Mango. Just make shure you stay in south beach beucase your gona find yourself there most of the time anyway, its were the fun is all at!

Exactly correct. Stay at a hotel ON THE WATER (since you are only doing it like once. It is expensive but worth it). The LOWES is beautiful-- but also about $350 a night! But yes! It is the place to be. Stay in a hotel around the 1200 to 1500 block of Collins Ave. or Ocean Dr.. My favorite hotel right there is the "South Seas" It has a fantastic pool area and access to the beach. I think it runs about $175 a night. It is older but clean. If you want to bargain hunt -- let me know and I can tell you about a few hotels there for the $75 a night range (but not on the water, and not near as nice). SOBE is my favorite place to go-- I can direct you to resturants, clubs, hotels, etc.. just tell me your budget and your likes/dislikes!

I used to live there most of my life. Although it is a no fault state with mandatory insurance, there are so many immigrants there driving without ins. The state attorney told me that 60% of the people driving in S FL are not insured. I can't tell you how many times I was rear ended by un-insured drivers. Also one in every 17 cars get stolen. I used to live in the Kendall area, a not too shabby area and every house on my block was broken in to except mine because I had a huge German Shepherd inside. I also and most of my neighbors had our vehicles stolen. When I retired, my wife had three more years untill she retired, so we sold our home and we bought a home in PA and a small townhouse for her. Three townhouses away during bright daytime the woman of the house heard a knock on her door and when she answered a gun was aimed to her face. They tied her to a chair, backed up a moving van and stole every thing in her house including every piece of furniture. A year later, (my dog was with me in PA), they broke into our townhouse and stole all her jewelry. But besides that, it is a nice place (lol). South Beach is an excellant place to visit. Also Coconut Grove is nice. Key Biscayne has some nice beaches. If you like animals, go to the Metro Zoo. If you never tasted Latin Food, it is delicious, you won't go away hungry, there are hundreds to choose from and the prices are very reasonable. Just be careful where you drive as there are some bad areas.

Talking Miami :)

I went there back in Sept of 06 and had a blast!

If you are going to be drinking, you can't pass up Wet Willies! They have "slushie"-style drinks..one is called "call a cab" (no explanation needed). I also ate at Mangos...the service and food was great! Definitely go there at night! Also, check out the Cleavander (don't know if I spelled it right), this is a hotel/bar/restaurant. They have some great Grouper fish! All of these places are located right on the main strip by the ocean. For breakfast, we went to a diner (I can't think of the name right now)...it might be called Al's...just ask the locals about a popular diner. The breakfast was excellent! We stayed at a hotel called the White Law. It was cheap, don't know if I'd recommend it. The bar inside of it is nice though. It is in the Art Deco Area of Miami on (I think) 8th and Collins.

Hope this info helps you!
Have fun!!!!
