How many American's (I'm talking U.S. Americans) move to another country and call themselves U.S.-Brazilians, or U.S.-French, or whatever? I've never heard of anything so ridiculous. My family came here legally. I can trace my roots here pre-Revolutionary war from Germany on my mom's side. And back then I doubt they gave a rats ass about coming here legally because we didn't have any laws back then. Times were much different over 200 years ago before we were ever a nation. I'm 3rd generation American from Austria on my dad's side. My great-grandfather immigrated here "legally" into the Port Authority of New York. And I'm damned proud to call myself AMERICAN, not German-American or Austrian-American. And I damned proud to speak my country's language clearly & concisely (English in case your not clear what our language is here in the U.S.). You might have a more captive audience in Mexico where they might actually listen to what you have to say or feel free to raise a foreign flag here in favor of all the illegals you're supporting. God knows that I fought to give you the right to spout off in almost any manner you choose. I'm happy to see that you're taking full advantage of your rights that I fought for.

Okay, I'm not sure who you are calling a dumbass, but thanks for showing us who you really are. I don't remember anyone in here calling you names, just because your fellow forum members disagree with your point of view you shouldn't have to resort to name calling.
You have chosen the Traditional Liberal debating method that was exposed years ago. When you don't have anything intelligent to say, you resort to name calling and changing the subject. This is not a debate about where the engine in my car was built, Europeans coming here legally, or what South Americans should be referred to as. It was about Criminals marching in the streets - PERIOD! Ask your holy savior Bill Clinton what his intent was when he signed NAFTA (even though the Unions begged him not to). He will state, as he always has, that even though he knew it would cost several hundred thousand American (that's USA) manufacturing jobs (which is why my engine was built in Mexico -Thanks Bill)- it would raise the quality of life for our South American neighbors (especially Mexico) and directly reduce the influx of Illegals into the USA. Funny-Nafta was signed in 1994 and by the end of Klintons presidency Illegals were coming across the border in RECORD numbers!
By the way, I am interested in knowing which countries in South America refer to themselves as AMERICANS. I've heard of Chileans, Argentinians, Brazilians, Dominicans, Bolivians, Cubanos, etc. etc. Please educate me.

I don't really care for the "african american" stuff either. It is overblown.
Anyway, I'm more concerned about security of the US, not stuff like this. What kinda security have we gained with a secure border? All we've done, is protect the country from being overtaken by .. people who can't really overtake the country anyway.
The people who blew up the WTC didn't come here by jumping the border. They came here on a plane.
The guys who built your house, or who farmed the food you eat? Oh yeah they probably jumped the border, that or they live in China in slave-ish factories or whatever.
We can keep talking about border control, illegal this, criminal that, and what I see, is racism and favoritism. By securing the borders, we're not really preventing people from coming from other parts of the world illegally (and they do in mass numbers), we're just losing any chance of figuring out who exactly -IS- coming into the country anyway because we're fighting the wrong thing.

(aint to say though, one of the big problems from Mexico aint all the people coming in, it's all of the illegal goods. Damn. And the country itself... yikes. Tell ya the truth, I can't blame them for jumping the border) lol.

Is the Public Education system really this terrible in the Bay area. I know that history is extremely censored here in the Okkupied State of Kalifornia, but now fact is being replaced by fantasy. Now, a few points. Before we go off on tangents designed to obscure the basic facts.
"American" as used refers to citizens of the United States of America, not an ethnic group.
Entering the country illegally is just that, illegal. People that came in and didnt follow the immigration laws back in Ellis Island times were, guess what, deported. Came in sick, deported.
I dont get to first break a law, then argue that its a bad law, not and stay free during the argument. I cant steal from a bank, then say the folks that run the bank took some of my money wrongly. I have to follow a legal process, no matter how long it takes.

Yeah, I'm sure you have stopped and questioned everyone begging for money to see if they were born here. I'm also sure that the drugs that flow freely across that border didn't have anything to do with these homeless beggars looking for their next fix! You want to question my creds and what I know? Like I said, I am an immigrant, I came here legally-my wife and her family are from Mexico City and they are here legally. I fought from one end of Iraq to the other-I saw conditions in Southern Iraq that make the conditions in Mexico look like Beverly Hills-across the border the Kuwaitis ALL live like Kings-50 miles away, but they don't try to cross because unlike us, Kuwait values their Sovereignty and discipline those who violate it's laws.
I don't blame anyone for wanting to come here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else, but they must come here legally! You can't pick which laws you will follow and which you won't-it should be the same for them!

Another well thought out post Oot! I don't know that anyone but you has said anything bad about anyone else on this post! I respect Flossin's opinions just as much as I respect those who agree with me. Flossin has directly benefited from his family coming here illegally-breaking our laws-how can he be against the whole "amnesty" issue. If I were in his shoes I'd probably be arguing for it as well.
Sounds as though you are insinuating that other members are afraid to disagree with Flossin - well, like most Jarheads, I've had 'afraid' programmed right out of me. Facts are facts - debate is healthy - I've spent time in other countries where it is forbidden, not good places! Now, my degree is in Political Science (Yes, I have a BA in BS) from California Baptist University, so I may have an unfair advantage, but I do welcome any comments that you may have concerning the Facts of this debate.
