should I keep or sell?

I have a project car that has been a year in the making, A 2006 300c 5.7 with custom ported heads, cam, kooks long tube headers/high flow cats, corsa exhaust, quaife differential, built engine, rods, pistons, valves, bearings, lifters etc.. Hotchkis Stage 1 suspension system. Afe stage II CAI, bigger injectors, with piggyback system. The car is almost done we are looking at switching the cam out to a different cam and adding the stall converter. Oh and everything was built around a NX nitrous system w/250 shot and twin 15 lbs tanks, The only thing left is the new cam, stall converter and programing (PCM is being done by KRC performance in FL). So another 2-3 weeks should be done.

Now then the dilema I am having I am recently divorced after 11 years of marriage (she met someone else), I could care less about this car now to be honest. I was down at the shop the other day and there were some past reminders in there, I just don't look at the car the same these days as I used to. I am thinking of starting all the way over Vette, viper, Mustang? I don't need a 4 door car anymore. I have a jeep wrangler that has seating for 4, I digress though.

Just looking for thoughts I am leaning towards a 2002 Zo6 and building a turbo set-up. Any one else ever start a project and have so much happen in between it changes the way you look at it. I am just thinking that when it is done I am not going to enjoy it like I should, and since I have made a clean break on everything else why not get rid of all the past.

Sorry to read of the end of your marriage. But why tie the car to it... unless it was part of the cause/excuse? Did you do the project car for her, or for you. I suspect it was the latter. If so, why not complete it and have a truly unique whip that is yours and yours alone for the first time since? If you're just going to spend even more money on another project car, why? That seems money down the hole to me.

Spending money doesn't heal... it just heels the banker, or the vendor. Save your money and focus on your future and enjoy the ride you've already "nearly" created. Those long, fast drives can bring focus and solice... sometimes.

Good luck with whatever is next for you!

SamsonXD,
I am sorry to hear that your marriage ended up in a divorce!
I would NEVER want to tell someone to get rid of their 300, especially with all the work you have done to your ride so far..but... knowing your situation I could certainly understand you harboring ill feelings toward it...not good for you.
I say buy a vette, viper or a mustang as they are all awesome rides! Good luck to you Samson in what ever decision you make.
JMHO...

Samson, sympathies to you for what you are going through.

Obviously the final decision is yours, just make sure you don't add to your sadness and stress and make a rash decision. Think long and hard about it.

As Tim says, you have already poured a heap of cash into the project and the reality is, the sum of the whole will be a whole lot less than what you can get for it now. I am sure you have already considered or being working through your property settlement, well walk away with the satisfaction that she has contibuted to something that you will enjoy for a while to come.

Samson I’m really sorry to read of your situation at home. I went back to do some research on some of your past posts. You know what I found? A man who was genuinely excited beyond words to get his 300C. Not only that you had many members (including me) watching your every move as you were taking a 5.7 where no other 5.7 (that we knew of) had gone. From the posts on your incredible NOS install to coping with the temporary loss of your car while it was in the shop, we could tell without a doubt you were passionate about this car. It appears in all of your posts you were living your dream up there in TN. I’m sorry this happened to you, but I suggest you stop and take a moment to think about this. After the dust settles a bit you may be more in the mood to be called crazy once again! Good luck….

Anyone else been called crazy?

Very sorry to hear about your marriage break. One thing you dont want to do though, is make a decision when you are upset or at an emotional time. You may regret it later. Wait just awhile...get the car finished. Take it for a few spins, then see how you feel. You need to at least see what all that money and effort feels like! Good luck to you.

To do anything but follow the heart would be foolish.
Go for you z06. We'll all hate you (not) but you'll once again find inspiration in cars.
regards Michaelr

Thanks all, this is just a frustrating project we take one step forward and two steps back, this car is a personal challenge now for my builder, there are no parts out there, everything has to be made at the machine shop. I know it will be be a mean machine out on the the street on nitrous we are figuring it will be around 600 RWHP, if the the tranny holds up, that should put it at low 11's high 10's in the 1/4 mile.

We changed up again adding a dedicated race fuel system for the N20, (when the N20 is armed it will switch to race gas, when the N20 is off it will go back to regular pump gas). We are stuck on the transmission though, if we had something else we could put so much more to the wheels, I dont know I guess it just seems because it has been a year since I have had the car, I just don't seem to miss it as much anymore I am used to not having it, maybe when I get it back that will change. In the meantime though I am missing summer down here in TN driving fast, lol anyways I will see how it all goes.

I have always wanted a vette though I guesss I should start saving up and do that project in a few years. Thanks again, heres a picture I took on my phone a couple of days ago when I was down there, one day I might have it back lol, I was looking at rims, I don't know we are keeping it on 18's Mickey thompson Et streets, anyone know of any sharp chrome rims that would set it all of nicely.

Thanks all for the support and encouragement means a lot to me. edited to add on the grill in that empty circle space I was thinking of getting a punisher skull put there what does anyone else think of that?
