I was sitting at a light early one Sunday morning. Nobody around, horizon was clear of everything but the 35mph sign. Green light, I gun it...because....well, I can. At about 75 mph (or roughly seven seconds for those counting at home) I came over the rise and saw the officer who was coming at me the other direction.

He siled and waved a thumbs up. I shut it down. He just kept on going.

Thumbs up Badge

"See what we have to put up with."
Well police officers weren't born with a badge. I had many jobs before becoming a police officer at the age of 27.

"You are a PRIVATE CITIZEN"
Yes we are, but with the experience to still help people in need. We are not exempt from receiving citations, but we do belong to a brotherhood that understands what we do/did for a living.

After 35 years as a policeman working (Patrol & Motors) in "Homeland Security" combat zones, I earned the right to still carry a badge and a gun.

MDG you also can earn that right, there are many job openings to become a police officer. And if you do I'll pass on my personal motto of, "protect, help and care" for you to use.

Brian (Former U.S.M.C. also)
Proud to have served.

Well said, Brian. Though I have not served, I know many who do and have, in the military, as police, or both. The professional pride that rings through the ranks of men and women shows. Thanks for your fulfilling your duty to keep the "rest of us" safer from whatever it is out to get us that day.

Thanks 300C, I feel a little better about my post. I just don't know where these comments came from and I do get hot under the collar after 33 yrs of service, and I still serve with my police service in another capacity.
