Hyundai Genesis - PRESS RELEASE

Hi Guys!!

PRESS RELEASE - DECEMBER 3rd, 2007

(Seoul, Korea) Marking a new beginning, Hyundai Motor Co. today announced Genesis as the official name of its eagerly anticipated luxury sports sedan. Benchmarking and bettering the competition, the Hyundai Genesis redefines luxury by presenting a credible alternative to the premium automobile offerings from Germany, Japan and the United States.

Adopting a rear wheel drive architecture and numerous technical innovations, Genesis opens a new era of high performance Hyundai motoring.

With Genesis, Hyundai opens an exciting new chapter in its 40 year-long history to compete at the very highest levels of the automotive business.

At the pinnacle of the Genesis motoring experience is the all-new Tau V-8 engine which will deliver 375 horsepower to the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. Hyundai's silk-smooth V-6 Lambda engines will also be offered in 3.3- and 3.8-liter editions. Hyundai pledges excellence at every step of the Genesis ownership experience from purchase to delivery and after-sales service.

I wonder... Will Chrysler [With their 2009 models] allow Hyundai to out-power their 300C?!

Craig!!

I think Hyundai should be proud of how they've turned themselves from a company that used to build crappy cars into a company that now competes with the best cars from around the world. It kind of reminds me of Toyota. They were known for building crappy little tinboxes in the 60's and didn't stand a chance of selling their cars in the US. Then in the 1970's, they revolutionized the building process and later became known for building the highest quality and reliable cars in the world. Hyundai was smart to follow in Toyota's footsteps. I just wonder how long it will be before everybody realizes that Hyundai can build cars just as good or better than the competition from Toyota and Honda. It won't be until then that they will have decent resale value.

You're right. The Genesis is unlikely to steal sales from Chrysler. But they probably will steal some business from Toyota, Lexus, Infinity, and Acura. I'm sure that most of the look alike cars you were referring to are from those companies.
