This would be in addition to, not a replacement of one of my other 2 SRT vehicles. That would make a 6, an 8, and a 10. Pretty cool eh?
I need a small, fun car that's easy to park in the city (parallel) I wouldn't call it a beater because I refuse to drive a "beater" type car but something cheap in the ~$20k range is what I want. I starting thinking about the neon SRT4's but they're still kinda pricey for a 5 year old vehicle with high miles that some kid beat on ~$16-$18k range. Hell, those cars were $22k brand new. For a few K more I can get in a low mile SRT6 for cryin' out loud and you get a lot more for your money.
THere's 2 in my area for $21-23k asking price.
What do you guys think? They're wonderful performing cars but I'm not in love with the styling. I like the uniqueness of it though. I'd probably rip the wing off.
Gimme an idea for another fun small car in that price range used w/ low miles ~15-20k miles if you have any other ideas.

Poorly designed trunk and even though they based it off the slk, the handling is garbage (and I'm not the only one to say it). I don't mind the styling though. I like the long hood look.

Jesus Matt, another freakin car? Are you gonna have that thing in time for the Superbowl? And I'm guessing that you're thinking convertible, right? Did you sell that Vette yet?
I know you have experience driving that thing at the SRT experience. I think you said it is about the same quickness as the SRT-8, right? I don't know how you could go wrong since you can get them so cheap. I think I remember you telling me about the SRT-6's tight handling too and that it makes a great track car. It sounds like a fun summer car, but some may think it's a little bit chicky. If you decide to get one, let me know. I'd love to take her for a spin.
vvv, have you driven one yet? If you are over 5'10" you may feel very cramped inside. My brother-in-law had an '04 Crossfire (not SRT6) and it was a really fun car to drive (and I thought it handled very well) but it just did not have enough room in it for me. I'm not THAT big (6', 225) so just be aware. I could drive it but I would have never bought one for that reason alone; it just needed a "TAD" more room inside....legroom and headroom.
a great car, as has been said a little cramped inside, but a real stormer. I'm sure once you learn to lay off the throttle a bit it gets decent mileage, too.
BTW, at my first SRTTE with high speed infield raceway action it was the preferred car by 3 different pros!

My Favorite "old car"... 73 Super Duty 455 Trans Am - 13.08 @109 mph when brand new! Just try and find one now!
i'm not a fan of the styling either...but 3 SRTs....how can you pass that opportunity up?
I don't see how either. So far it seems like a good fit for my needs....and mostly wants (330HP) of course.

Sorry to say but you're completely ill informed. I've driven every SRT vehicle around a road course and besides the Viper, it's the best performing SRT vehicle. Period! If you say it handles like crap then you're saying the other SRT vehicles handle like crap.

Depends how froggy I feel. Nothing's holding me back. My other cars are paid off and once I sell my Vette in the Spring the SRT6 will be too. Maybe I can have it in time for the SB.

I actually do like the idea of a vert SRT6. 1.) because they only made about 900 of them, and 2.) because verts are definitely fun. However, I've decided against it because 1.) A vert in Chicago begs for thievery 2.) It's heavier and not as stiff as a coupe and 3.) they go for ~$3-4k more used because they're so rare.

It's definitely "quicker" than an SRT-8, but it's not as "fast" as an SRT8. They post better 1/4 mile times but they trap about 2-3 MPH slower. Regardless, they're close in all-around performance and the simple mods get some good HP.

Of course you can! It certainly doesn't have the "Grunt" that the 8 has. It doesn't seem like they're as fast, but they are. You'll enjoy it. As far as "Chicky" all 2 seater coupes and roadsters have that stigma across the board. I actually think the new SLK and Crossfire are more masculine looking of them all (and I wanted a Solstice GXP/Sky Redline for a while too.)

I'm 6'1" 215 and I didn't feel that cramped....But then again, you have to understand I'm used to driving a C4 Vette and I also had and even more cramped car then them all, a '73 Stingray Vette. If you haven't been in a C3 vette then you haven't been in a cramped (American) car so I guess I'm just used to it.

F'n A Steve! Around the road course and the autoX there was NO comparison!

Well, you asked what we think and that's what I thought when I drove it. Top Gear agreed with me (though I can't find Top Gear's review of the SRT6 anymore).
I haven't driven the SRT Viper, but I drove the old one and it handled like a dog. The new one I know is a whole different thing, but this test suggest much has stayed the same YouTube - Jeremy Clarkson tests Dodge Viper SRT10 vs BMW Z4M
Skip ahead to minute 7 to save yourself some time.
I am thinking of a car I would recommend for the same purpose as a SRT6 in that same price range btw, I just haven't come up with it yet.
I was going to say give the Mustang a second look because of how much there is for them in the aftermarket (not that it handles better), but it is ~28" longer.
Did you give any thought to an early 996 Porsche? They can be had for <$25k, and nothing is as easy to parallel park in tight spaces (I find it even easier than a Mini - new Mini, haven't driven an old one).

I love to watch Top Gear because I find it very amusing. Jeremy and his buddies put a pretty comical light to almost all of their road tests. But something that can be gathered from watching even one episode is the fact that they find "all" American cars to be inferior to European cars. They go out of their way to trash the Americans almost every opportunity that they can. And when it comes to performance comparison testing, I have no doubt that they purposely go light on the throttle of the American cars and make the cars appear to understeer and whatnot to make the European cars look superior. When it comes time for car shopping, the "opinions" of Top Gear are the last thing I'd consider. In fact, the more they hate the particular American car they are testing, the better that car probably is.
