2008 Ultimate Track Car Challenge

No LX car made it to the 1st Ultimate Track Car Challenge last year.
Here's hoping one of our diehard racers makes it this year at Buttonwillow, California on June 8.

Northern Rider or anyone else with a road racing, NASA Time Trial or equivalent license (HPDE 4 or higher) might be interested.

If you don't obtain your NASA license by the time of the competition, you can hand over your keys to a ringer of your choice.

Shame I live in Aus, I'm currently working on getting a track car together. Right now I have plans for a mean little RX-7, featuring some creative ideas with what's currently under the hood. The one I'm looking at normally has a top-mount intercooler, air cooled by a hood scoop that seals flush against it. I'm switching to water-cooled, and using the hood scoop and seals to sit up against a stainless steel box with a panel filter inside, giving me a scoop-fed sealed intake!

Quite the challenge!

Just getting them to accept an LX would be a great accomplishment, but short of massive modifications, I don't think an LX could be competitive. Buttonwillow definitely favors smaller, lighter cars as there are few big straights and lots of technical twisty bits.
