Cool Chevy+Ford+Dodge = Muscle Car War At Barrett-Jackson

I thought It was just the Challenger going up on the blocks. Now everyone wants a piece!!!

Can you say the FIRST 2008 Ford Shelby GT500 KR, the FIRST 2009 Corvette ZR1 and the FIRST 2008 Challenger SRT8 all in one breath? Well it's true. Seems like it's now the thing to do these days.

What a set that would make to get them all. What a war before they even hit the road!!! I'm not missing this one!!!

Muscle Car Wars Commence – On Barrett- Jackson Auction Block

January 11, 2008 - By Mike Ellis

Just days after the media wraps up the Detroit auto show, collector car auction house Barrett -Jackson will fire the first shot in the muscle car wars.

On the auction block on Saturday, Jan. 19 in Scottsdale, Arizona will be the first production 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8, featuring a 6.1-liter HEMI V-8 engine, as well as the first 2008 Ford Shelby GT500 KR, and the first 2009 Corvette ZR1. (I thought the new Camaro is the Chevy entry in the muscle car wars, but what do I know.)

The winning Challenger will be in HEMI Orange paint with carbon-fiber-like hood stripes, a chrome fuel filler cap and a numbered dash plaque designating its No. 1 status.

In this case, what you see ISN’T what you get. The concept Challenger will be on display at Barrett- Jackson. The 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 will make its worldwide debut at the Chicago Auto Show on Feb. 6.

All proceeds of the auction will go to charity. In the case of the Challenger, the proceeds will benefit notMYkid - an organization dedicated to facilitating improved understanding about youth behavioral health issues including suicide, drug abuse eating disorders and depression.

Those "first" cars go for too much money. But then some people have more money than sense.
I do like watching the auctions though. If, when, I win the lottery, I'm going to Barrett-Jackson
