The Driver by Alex Roy...anyone read?
|
This book was posted about a few times over on autoblog and jalopnik, but i had kind of forgot about it until recently. The author/racer appeared on Letterman and seemed to be a really good, likeable, interesting guy. I picked up the book and even though i am reading it on breaks and such at work, its difficult to put it down.
its about the events leading up to and including his unofficial record of 31 hours 4 minutes from NY to CA. it talks about how he got interested in this, his attempted recreation of the French film Rendezvous (a must view, if you havent seen it) and then his entrance in the Gumball Rally and so on from there. i am only a few chapters into the book, but it is already excellent. Its very interesting and in-depth as to how he did this, especially after seeing him on TV, you get a real idea about how excited he is to be doing this, like getting an actual thrill from it, not just doing it because he is bored and wealthy.
if anyone is interested, i really recommend picking it up, so far its a great read, and i actually have to pull it away from my friend so i can read it.
