Wink Presidential Candidates Suck Up At Chrysler Booth

Man oh man, it must be election time for sure. What else would any self-respecting candidate do other than to grab a photo-op next to a green machine at the Chrysler booth at the Detroit Auto Show. I'm surprised Al Gore wasn't there. Humm, maybe he was.

Presidential Candidates Stop By Chrysler Stand at Detroit Auto Show

Presidential Candidates Mike Huckabee, John McCain and Mitt Romney and Sen. John Lieberman swung by the Chrysler stand on Monday afternoon, a day ahead of the Michigan presidential primary. All three checked out the three Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge electric plug-in hybrids unveiled on Monday at the Detroit auto show.

Huckabee checks out the back seat of the Chrysler ecoVoyager concept vehicle, while wife Janet takes the drivers seat. Chrysler Vice Chairman Jim Press points out some features while Frank Klegon, Executive Vice President of Product Development, looks on.

John McCain, walking with Chrysler Chairman and CEO Bob Nardelli, checks out the Jeep Renegade, as Sen. John Lieberman follows.

Mitt Romney (center), next to the Chrysler ecoVoyager, speaks with Chairman and CEO Bob Nardelli, as Frank Klegon, Executive Vice President of Product Development (center), Vice Chairman Jim Press (center right) and Vice Chairman Tom LaSorda (far right) look on.

I suppose they were invited, whoever made the first move, Chrysler will need support at the top the next few years - they need friends. Uppermost in auto manufacturers executives minds - the Amercian economy, international trade, CAFE & other emissions standards, Labor unions, safety standards, price of oil, national sales tax or VAT, etc.
