Yes, the desert eagle is a garbage .50AE (action express...every round they make is nonsense) piece of junk. Among people who have two brain cells to rub together, the desert eagle is known to be inaccurate garbage that jams constantly. It has no known use, since it would make for a terrible combat gun, a terrible target gun, and is too unreliable to use to hunt any sort of game that would warrant such a round.

Among the vast majority of people, it is known from a variety of Hollywood movies and Counter-Strike and thought to be the best thing since sliced bread. This group typically includes those you have never shot a gun, and those who would wear a t-shirt that says "f y'all"
