I think they should have put it in JRich's (the point guard) hands and set up a screen for Stephen rather than have Stephen take it all the way. This also might have created a situation for The White Lobster to get free in a corner with all eyes on Stephen. Still though, this is one of those situations where no matter play was run, if the ball didn't go in the basket, I, as a fan, would be able to come up with a "better" play after the fact.

Still though, Curry is coming back, though this time he'll step into the role of point guard.

I don't know what the deal is with CBS though. The announcing seemed very Jayhawk biased, and then after the game they put up that Kansas ended "Davidson's feel-good nonsense" with a "convincing 59-57 victory."

that was a great game and i was pulling for Davidson. I've seen Kansas in person and thought they were going to roll today but that was not the case.

CBS, ABC, ESPN, FOX, etc are always going to be bias to the big name teams no matter how good or bad they really are. Being a Texas A&M fan we have to put up with it everytime we play Texas. If we win it's because Texas was having an "off-night" if we lose closely Texas "dominates".

I can understand the bias in a single game situation, but in a tourney situation doesn't the public rally behind the underdog, raising viewership with each successive victory? I don't understand why they still push the bigger program in a tourney situation.

I'm guessing we Davidsonians who wrote them complaints (and I'm happy to report that the complaints that got copied onto our message board have all been sarcastic or intelligently insulting) had something to do with CBS taking down "convincing" within a couple of hours, and then changing "feel-good nonsense" to "improbable run" a few hours later.

I didn't see that, but it's very disappointing. All I can say is, having watched the game with an admitted Davidson bias, either Kansas ain't all that, or there's no nonsense about the 'Cats. Kansas coach Bill Self probably said it best:
I would say instead of jubilation, it was probably more relief. The way you picture winning a big game like that, you make a shot, you celebrate and you’re able to congratulate your coaches and players. This was not one of those deals. I just wanted to make sure I hurried up and shook hands and the officials left the court so they couldn’t put any more time on the clock.
Helluva run, Davidson. You should be proud.

Well, people got a little angry over it, so someone took a screenshot for posterity.

Oh, we sure are proud. Elite 8 from an academic team (in fact, we may have just lost one of our top recruits for next year because he didn't pass our academic requirements). There's apparently a welcoming party on campus (consider how late it is) to meet them when they get in from the airport. That game sure was hard fought, especially considering how much trash Jayhawks were talking on our message board (and how much trash the Kansas City paper was talking). One Jayhawk came back to the forum to admit he was wrong, the rest have disappeared LOL.

One of our senior forwards (Thomas Sander) has been playing with a broken thumb since our win over Gonzaga in the first round. Apparently it wasn't a painless break either, because he didn't practice once between games and he loaded up on pain killers during each game.

The whole sports world, which gave us no credit at first and then, even after beating Gonzaga and Gtown, considered us to be a one-man show, got to see that this small school program in a conference nobody has heard of, located in a town with 2 traffic lights and a soda shop, can go toe to toe with a #1 seeded team. Lovedale, Max "The Pest" P-G, Curry, and Bryant "The White Lobster" Barr (who went 3 for 4 from downtown tonight) are all returning. Plus, we've got two good players who red-shirted this year, and Stephen Rossiter and Will Archambault who are just coming into their own now. Jason, Thomas, and Boris are hard to replace, but I actually think we'll be a better team next year than we were this year, just because we have so many young guys.

It's a great day to be a Wildcat

It will be hard to beat this season. One shot away from the final four. Davidson just had the right combination of players for it to work. A star in Curry, a point guard that can get him the ball, and some workhorses on the inside. Those guys inside played hard whether it was going for a lose ball or an offensive rebound. That's one aspect of the game you can't teach. The point guard will be missed more than people realize. You don't lead the nation in assists even with Curry making all the shots that he did for nothing. This Davidson team defintitely deserved a celebration when they returned home.

JRich will surely be missed, but Stephen played point guard in high school, and given his shooting guard skills, I'm guessing he'll rise to the ocassion. The White Lobster was a 42% 3-point shooter this year (Stephen was a 44% 3-point shooter), and it's not like he was just lucky with low numbers, that's out of 128 attempts. So, with a little work, I think he'll do quite well. Max P-G (the Quebecois) and Lovedale (the Nigerian) are two great forwards who are returning, so while the durable Thomas Sander will be missed, I like our chances.
