Because you didn't need it, duh, that's the point I was trying to argue - people that are stuck in a bad position need help, and that applies regardless of their race.

I agree with the sentiment on the democratic and republican parties - when we have HUGE pressure for a candidate that's still in the mid 40% popular vote and we have the party pressuring them like mad to drop out, it has to make you wonder!

In 2004, 121 million people voted - right now, we have 13,355,209 votes for obama, and 12,637,123 votes for clinton.

I find it rather hilarious that the news is pressuring the hell out of clinton to drop out when the "clear winner" of the election (according to them) has 11% of the popular vote.

The thing about these nominations is they mean almost nothing to me, yes less people vote in primaries, and generally the more spirited people do at that, and not all of them return to vote in the general election.

(at least, gathering from what I understand)...

WTF?!

Considering you state without hesitation that you know what a black persons' response would be in regard to racism, I'm assuming that you're "black"?? I hate to think that you would be speaking of "my response to that question as a man of color".

Religion has been used throughout history to enslave, brainwash and take weak minds and mold them into racist tools.

Oppression against any person based on color is morally WRONG! I could jump from church to church and I'm sure I'd find a disagreement in their fundamental teaching or actions of the church. I've always been told: "Find a church where you can learn about the bible and grow. Don't get caught up in the short comings of the people in the pulpit or church board members. Remember you are in church to serve God and not man. Don't let man's shortcoming and thoughts take you to hell, be responsible for your own salvation." I prefer to attend a church that is active in the community in a positive role. I prefer attending a church that affords growth.

Don't get me wrong, I've heard ministers such as Wright and I'm in shock and I ask the other half "Did he/she just say that?" Sometimes it'll take away from all the good but I remember there's a man/woman in that pulpit and not God. I don't entertain racism/racist ideas, actions or behavior. I don't see color when I look at another individual. All I want to know is "are you a good person"? I could point out well known ministers of various races and bring up sermons where they have preached racism but it would only prove that these are men in these pulpits and not GOD.

No man owes me anything! I pay my way as I go. I serve this country in it's armed forces and I fought for all the core values we all want in a society.

If you're fed up with social programs, ask yourself why they were created and why do they still exist? NO, you may have not had any hand in the wrong doings but someone did. I received no AFFIRMATIVE ACTION favors from the private university I attended. I was blessed to get academic scholarships that outweighed the value of an athletic scholarship.

I'm still looking for that last 20years pedestal of equality that I've supposedly been sitting on.

Pat B. responses to this mess proves he's only a man and not the sharpest tool in the shed but I guess when you look at your ego it overshadows common sense. When you elevate man to a perceived position of power, he stops serving God and becomes self serving--history has proven this all too well.

Now as a man I must go finish my list--you know the one all men have regardless of color...the "honey-do list"...I guess that's one piece of unity for all races

Moderator shmoderator. This was posted in the OT section and is within the forum rules. There have been no personal attacks, and I'm happy that the tone over all has been pretty darn civil.

That being said, I'm happy that you decided to chime in. It's always good to get the comments of a "man of color" from somebody other than Marlin for a change. Based on your post, it is apparent that Obama should have hired you to help write his "race" speech. Yours was better and more to the point than his was. While I don't agree with everything that you said, it is clear that you are very passionate in your views and I do agree with much of it. It is clear that you are an educated man and I'm very happy to hear that you didn't use the system to gain an unfair advantage. I wish more people would follow your example.

I didn't say that the groups don't want whitey to feel a grudge, but that it's about about whitey feeling a grudge, i.e. it doesn't matter one way or another, that has nothing to do with the goals of the programs.

If you seriously think that black people aren't outcast, get thee to North Carolina or the southern parts of Virginia. I can take you around to places where you will hear a lot about "uppity n-words" and I can even show you places where they won't allow black people in (well, officially they do, but they don't). Heck, until the police finally cracked down, there was a bar very near to my undergrad where black people would be asked to leave.

Ouch. That's definitely not cool.

That's like trailer trash city. Seriously though thing about places like that is unless you fit their very narrow field of acceptance, you're gonna be asked to leave the bar, or might not even make it out of there in 1 piece.

Still downright bad.. eugh.

I know you're just kidding around, but I feel that in the interest of full disclosure I should note that I am caucasian.
