To Chicagoland, 4/11 - back from 4/14

Here's a headsup for ya'll... be on the lookout from the Silver Bullet MSRT8 enroute to Chicagoland tomorrow. We'll be heading diagonally across OH (basically US33, and then pick up US30 around Lima. Then across northern IN until we pick up I65 at Merrillville. Then to I80/90, I294 and I290.

Going to celebrate the first birthday of Alivia, grand daughter extraordinaire...

As well as our son and D-I-L of course...

We made it and are here in the rain.

Would love to do that Dave... but it just won't work this year with the wife going to Calif. on Monday to help her parents for a couple/few weeks.

With the flood we had in the basement a few weeks ago, I've lost a couple weeks worth of evening time and weekend... not to mention the cost of the clean-up and then flooring we had to tear out... and the repair of the french drain system outside the house.

So we've also cancelled plans for a week+ vacation in the mountains following the H.S. graduation of my sister's oldest near Denver, June 3rd. I'm only going to have time to drive out and drive back... still considering flying, but I just like to drive and there's so many friends and relatives to try to see enroute.

Then I hope to fully attend the Columbus, OH big event that TurboBuckeye and Cherry are planning.

Glad you arrived safely for the birthday, GTL. Alivia is so darn cute, too. Hope you have a wonderful reunion and that the weather will be good for you (for the most part). Keep sharing those photos.

Well, guess what... it is spritzing snow right now! So far the Magnum is being trooper.

we had a great party this afternoon with lots of relatives and friends. Alivia got her first taste of cake. Of course she was a dainty little lady... she just loves to feel the texture between your thumb and first couple of fingers. She did NOT dive into it... just reached touched and tasted. Then her mom got anxious and "helped" her put her whole hand print in the frosting. What did she do? She held up the messy hand, and began touching and tasting with the other, clean hand. Finally, mommy got that hand "printed" in frosting and then, only then, things got a little message... and some of that was on mommy as Alivia turned to her with those frosting covered hands.

But she never did grab a handful of cake and jam it in her mouth.

Such a daintly little lady!

Glad a good time was had by all, especially Alivia! That sweet thing has impeccable manners at such a young age!

Can't believe you're mentioning snow when I sweltered in 91 degree weather today at a baseball game!

We drove our neice (the United flight attendent) to her apartment after the party and the closer we got toward the lake the more snow was "spritzing"... and it continued all the way back to the suburbs. The temperature showing on the EVIC was 35 F.

Nothings going to accumulate as far as I can tell, but it's going to be mid-30s over night and not much warmer tomorrow.

Glad you were able to get out and enjoy a ballgame bruno... I'm sure your recovery was helped by that heat!

Thanks GTL! I am feeling so much better and I do believe the hot sun was helpful as well. I even attended a special event with my high school's FCA group before going with them to the game. Still, I just can't picture snow this time of year. Be safe!

There was frost on the shadow side of the Magnum this morning! Got home tonight about 9:30 local. Wonderful day for a drive. Averaged 22 mpg. Stopped in Columbus and had dinner with Pigman440 from LXF - a fellow Magnum owner (THANKS Tom!).

My wife actually got on the 10:14 United flight... after arriving at about 9 am and checking in on "how to" do the stand-by flight attendant thing at about 9:15. They had her taken care of by 9:45 and she was able to get on when they started boarding at 9:55. Just incredible.

Until next time I'm up around the windy city... stay warm and drive like you mean it!
