Just got back from my annual trip to MN... that's a whole 'nother story for maybe tomorrow.

Just a week away from the mad dash west with the MSRT8 to Denver and Back. First stop is going to be breakfast with Pigman440 in Columbus if any of you all are up for droppin' in. Then, hopefully burgers and dogs with the Hesters in NSTL before spending the night with friends in St. Charles.

The the road and possibilities around KC and points west along I-70 through KS are fully open for Sunday, June 1.

Surely some of you could spare a little time next weekend to cruise along, or stop and say HEY to a friendly forum road tripper....

Here's the plan for tomorrow as best I know it. Sunday is completely open heading across MO and KS.

8:30 am Sat. I'll be meeting with Pigman 440 (aka Tom) for breakfast somewhere in the vicinity of I-270 and I-71 interchange in SW Columbus. Any LXers in the Columbus area are welcome to join us... just give me a PM by 11 pm tonight for contact info.

Then I'll be heading down I-71 to the Cincinnati area to meet up briefly with EricG. We've been trying to get together since before he moved to the big city from Huntington, WV. So I'm just going to take this opportunity.

From there the route over to St. Louis is somewhat up in the air. Tom suggests dropping down the Louisville and following I-64 (I think) into STL. I was thinking mostly IN46 between Greensburg and Terre Haute to catch back on I-70 west. Let me hear from ya, if you want me to come your way somewhere's along there.

Just need to be at Grinner Hester's in time for evening grillin' of burgers and dogs. We'll chew some fat and talk video shop talk for a while. Then I'll mosey on over to my friend's home in St. Charles for the night.

I know storms and tornados have left portions of the mid-west in terrible shape, but if anyone has time to cruise with me for a while, or can offer a brief respite from the road for a mini-meet-n-greet... I'm all up for it.

Again... I'll need to know by 11 pm tonight, or 11 pm central tomorrow (for Sunday).

Ok... heard from Tom... breakfast tomorrow will be at the Golden Corral in Grove City. Exit off I-71 just outside the I-270 loop at Stringtown Rd. hang a right and go through the first light (Gantz) and the Golden Corral is on the left next to the McDonalds. Tom says it opens at 7:30 am. I'll be there around 8:30 Lord willing.

Got to Denver last evening about 8:20 pm mountain time after having left STL at about 9 am central. One long day, but beautifully green (I've can't remember ever seeing KS so green way out west). And some of the vistas coming through easter CO I had completely forgotten as well.

Was able to crusie with a base model Charger couple for a long time west of Salina, but then some Honda or Toyota guy started riding my tail. Came up on me like he was going faster and would pass, then just tucked in behind me and way too close. Sometimes he's fall back a few car lengths, but sometimes there was no road visible between us in my rearview.

I did my best 1/4 drag strip impression at one point starting at 75 mph and left him and the others (including the base Charger) way behind. But wasn't long and he sped up to tail me again. I slowed down until the groupd caught us again and he wouldn't pass. So I sped up gain. He said with me and then I just put my brakes on and he had to react. I saw him wipe his brow and after that he hung way back and eventually disappeared. I was glad that 5 min. of rude driving was over.

I hate those kind of drivers. They have no point in what they are doing.

I hope you are taking pictures of your trip and will post them when you get back.

Well GTL, be safe! Some drivers are just plain ignorant or are tying to instigate some type of confrontation. Can't wait to see your pictures.

Thanks for posting the pix Eric. Was great to meet your whole family... amidst the Cicadas! I can still hear Sophia squeeling!

Spent the night in the back of the Magnum at the rest stop in central MO last night. Not the most comfortable thing, but workable and I'll know better how to make it more comfortable the next time.

Got home tonight a little before 8 pm and had time to debug the front end of the MSRT8 (again!), completely unpack, start a load of laundry and get ready for the NBA Finals.

GO CELTICS! (and my wife echos "go lakers")

Figured up my total miles and fuel economy today... 3080 miles in 6 days, and for the entire trip... 20.009 mpg.

Now to work on the pictures...

Oh... and GO CELTICS... again!
