Damn good question and glad you asked. If you get money from the government because you work in the military, federal police, transportation, etc...no, that for sure does not make you 'not smart.'

However, if you are sucking off the tit of the government like un-employment (long term), federal or state welfare and a host of other scams...then yes, you are not smart. I think you get it.

How can you say you dont want gas to go back down?! This may not be hurting you directly but for the average joe who cant afford to one day say to him self, "self, i think im gonna buy 10k gallons of gas today and build a place to store it all," this sucks. The cost of EVERYTHING is being driven up because of this. I have had to make drastic cuts with my company because 1 expenses are going up and 2, people just arnt buying as much.

And YES i do discredit Obamas health care plan. You want an example thats close to home? Just look at Canada.... We are all screwed if this guy gets in.

I'm with Moose too! This government don't seem to do anything right. Look at the D.C. Mall. Our immature representatives have let that go to pot. They seem to spend allot of time voting on stuff that makes little difference. Palosi, Reed, Boxer, Feinstein, Clinton, Obama, Clark, Gore, and Kennedy Oh yes the 9th circuit court in San Fran....are a scourge on this country!!!! I missed a few but you get my drift! All are flaming socialists or environment elites!!!!!! Get rid of some of these and the Democratic party may be OK again!

This could keep going so far off topic but I think its time to get back.

I would like everyone to chime in on this one.

How are the current and future prices in gas / fuel effecting your life?

We are driving a whole lot less. I keep the 300 polished up and we go out to Sunday dinner and do some grocery shopping and Cedar Point twice a month.(Season passes) I hate to park there as I got a slight door ding last month. My wife and I purchased two Yamaha Zumas that are suppose to get 123 miles per gallon. We ride them every day to minimize our car fever! We have cut our monthly gas bill in half. I buy Speedway gas so I get 10c off(5c for the card and additional 5c for using their MC card) Plus you get a $25 cash card with every 10 or 15 fill ups.. $3.93 before discounts today!

Im driving a lot less as well. I got the car the very end of November 07 and I already have 20k miles on her. Thats changing right now... I also find im having to spend more and more every time at the grocery store for the same food. My business is taking a hit as well. People in the area are spending a lot less money in anticipation of even higher gas prices and the fear of the fuel bills they will receive for this coming winter. We used to give out gas cards for those who drove company cars and in the beginning of june we were at over 40k dollars so far for the year in gas bills so we had to cut that out...

Its really to bad. I want to be able to help other people out in this time of financial trouble but i cant give out benefits i cant afford to have.

Just for imformation sake

I don't know about know but a couple of yrs ago (around the time of 911) I was working offshore. And the Sect. of the Interior can't recall her name came to our rig, they had fighter planes flying around our right to make sure she was safe. Well she told us then that there was going to be drilling in Alaska, and numerous other places. Which make me think the whole war thing was about oil. Because someone asked how were they ever going to get permission to drill in Alaska and she said don't worry about it, that it would be taken care of. The pamplets she handed out also broke down the US oil. And let me tell you we exported more oil then we import. This whole thing is about money. We would be independent if we stopped exporting and just used our own oil. The thing is we export and sell for more than it cost us to import there for a larger profit is being made.

I/we were spending around $1500 to $2500 per month on gas for our business back in Sept when prices were around $90. They dropped back to $75 and that's when I said "I have an idea." I'll buy oil now and if it drops, which I knew it wouldn't, I sell. If it goes up it will hedge my fuel between say $2.65 per gallon vs. $3.40 per gallon (or higher). I had no idea it would climb to $143 pb and $4.50 per gallon. But when oil goes up my investment goes up. I'm paying more for gas but you see I'm hedged with my oil stocks. I was able to protect my business from high gas prices all in one swoop.

I gotta' think there are a lot of others that did what I did which is in turn surging oil prices. But when you have a government a sleep at the wheel you have to protect your piece of the pie. And it was all done leagal.
