This is something I feel very strongly about.

Yes it may have a great effect on gas prices if we did release it but we would be taking a HUGE gamble if during that time we were attacked.
Totally agree. I think using the reserves to help with the problem we have now would be a huge mistake. We need to make decisions for the long term, and that would be like putting a bandaid on a gaping head wound.

I realize that all the oil we would find off shore wouldnt all go to the US, but we have a huge supply and demand issue. Have you seen what oil prices are doing now that bush has lifted the executive ban on ANWR drilling? It has dropped from a high of 147 a barrel to around 122 today! Last time i checked, oil was selling before taxes and distributor profits for $3.09 a gallon. Right now the lowest price in my area is 3.71. There was two stations in our state that for a day were selling gas at the 3.09 a gallon price for regular unleaded.

I think we should keep all the oil it's in our country and we found it so that makes it ours we can sell it at a nice price of course.

.......It isn't our oil

Its so strange to me that all the republicans don't see the inherent contradiction in this offshore drilling...You yell "free market" and yet don't understand that oil found by oil companies will be sold to the highest bidder I.e. China and India.....I'm sure offshore drilling would effect the price of gas, but you guys jumpin up and down about "all of our gas comin to America" have to stop for a second and think about wat I'm saying...However painful that may be

If you're going to write your senator, ask that some of that trillion (read: a million millions) dollars of subsities dumped to oil companies annualy be given with a caveat....All, or at least a large percentage, of oil drilled by independant oil companies off the shores of the US should remain in the US.

Without this stipulation, offshore drilling will only contribute to the very very deep pockets of big oil.

No matter what way we go whoever is in the oil industry pockets are going to get deeper regardless. I say we release some of our oil and lower the price of gas because I gaurantee when the price of gas drops the economy is going to get back right on its feet. Because more people will actually be able to afford a road trip, be able to afford that house that's further away from work, and people will have more money to do modding.

If we drill more less money will be going out of the country....The dems don't seem to understand that!!!!!! Right now Nancy Palosie and Harry Reid are our biggest economic problem!!!! Most of us can't ride around in a fed. paid limo!!!!! Gas around here has dropped to as low as $3.59 so it appears to be working!
