My 08 Jeep Srt8 just got BACKED INTO by an AMR AMBULANCE!!!

So anyways i was behind an AMR ambualance and was waiting to turn right when they stooped about a car length behind the crosswalk....the light turned green and i was like WTF?....for a second i thought maybe they recognized my Jeep cuz i know quite a few of them and THEN they put it into reverse and CRACK!....oops!......so turns out the damage is minor......messed up my clear bra($600) and put a small barely noticeable half inch wide dent in my lower valance......soooooo small that nobody would notice it BUT you all know that any little nick or ding just eats away at you EVERYTIME you walk up to your car so if somebody is gonna pay for it then F*** it i'm getting a new bumper.....and clear bra.....

Worst thing about it was that the driver was my friend!...damnit!!!

So what steps do i take to fully benefit from this? I bring it to Allstate and get an estimate right? then they tell AMR and then AMR cuts me a check right?

What if the Allstate says just re paint the whole bumper? Should i argue with him and say it's urethane and it will never be the same!

The insurance companies always have like a paint shop estimate the damage right so it's they say it's gonna be a lot then when i get the check can i find a better deal for the bumper and clear bra?

Can i buy a front bumper with factory silver paint? sinced the factory paint is better than a shop's....

Anyways, the way this works is you find a body shop of your choosing, they make an estimate, an allstaste adjuster makes an estimate, and they then pay that body shop that you chose.

And not just for your car. Its for just about everything.

I just put in new shift knobs and inserts for my 1985 Jeep CJ-7 to replace
the factory originals that were falling apart.

The new ones are a good match, and look very OEM. Except for one thing.

The transmission shift knob insert, that shows the shift pattern in it, has an
actual fingerprint INSIDE the clear plastic covering over the shift pattern!

Now, like you said, its probably not noticable to anyone except me, but
every single time I get in my Jeep, I see it, and it sticks out like a soar thumb!

Since they are a cheap thing to replace ( about 6 bucks for the insert) I will
get another one. My fiance asks me why, when you can't see it unless I
point it out to someone.

Its the fact that I see it every time I get in the Jeep.

So I know what you are going thru with the scuff on the front of your new
Jeep.

Think of it this way. Its YOUR car. It was NOT like that before it was
backed into, so even if it is just a small spot, get it fixed back to the way it
was BEFORE. Why live with it if its going to bug you, and it was NOT your
fault that its like that now.

I'm sorry to hear about that little incident. I know a few others on this forum besides you who will always see that 'invisible' dent that no one else will ever notice.

Honestly, you don't need a new fascia for that. If it's just a dent w/o any paint chipping, then a decent paintless dent removal company can pop that out and you won't even know where it was located once repaired.

Is Allstate the Ins. Co. for the Ambulance Co.? You have the right to take your Jeep where you want for the estimates and then they should be cutting you a check for the repairs...a new clear bra. Your insurance co. should have nothing to do with this situation unless they won't pay or choose to make it difficult. This should all be quick and easy.

Did you happen to ask your friend why he put the ambulance into reverse?

Honestly, you don't need a new fascia for that. If it's just a dent w/o any paint chipping, then a decent paintless dent removal company can pop that out and you won't even know where it was located once repaired.

Since most front fascia's on todays cars and trucks are made of plastic, and NOT metal,
the paintless dent removal will do nothing to help this matter.

Once a "dent" is in the plastic, you can't work it out from the back like you
can on a metal body panel. The plastic will hold the dented shape if it has
been flexed too far to spring back to its original shape.

If this is the case, then you will have to either try to ignore it, or repair it.

Being the boss, I have had to pay for these mistakes made by EMS guys. It is much better off for the company to cut a check for the repair. AMR is a pretty reputable company and has policies in place to handle these things.

Since this guy was your friend, I hope you didn't decide to take care of this back at base...I can't tell you how many times a scratch occurs and mysteriously no one knows how it got there. Hopefully the supervisor was involved from the start.

If not, I would contact the friend and make sure he reported the incident, then follow up with mgmt.

As long as you and the management for AMR are reasonable, you should not have a problem getting it replaced. If it were one of my guys who did it, I would pay for the repair (replacement) and not submit it to insurance. I would just make sure I was replacing what was damaged and not the whole front end.

I hate it for you and for the guy who hit you...I am sure he is getting plenty of jabs from his/her co-workers.

Every little ding or scratch drives me crazy so I know how you feel. Sucks how it was your boy too! Hopefully this can be resolved quickly and painlessly!!!

The AMR supervisor showed up immediately anyways...which happens to be my old partner and good friend!

They already went through insurance so i'll see how it pans out...

They saw all the damage right after....no new scratches

i hate it when that happens .. it happened to me 3 days ago but a freakin hummer messd up my fender and it really sucks big time .. but i guess it turned out to be a sweeet change for my csrt .. Color change baby
