well apparently this ended up being a LARGE problem...

all the restaurants and I do mean ALL, fast food, sit down, etc where closed by the health dept Thurs thru Today.

some are being allowed to re-open, others aren't depending on location..

the city workers did come back and fill in my lawn.. but left a 20 inch diameter hole in the middle where their valve is..

of course 3 days after the fact and the grass is dead, so they just managed to cover the big ass hole with dead grass..

nice..

I'm heading over to the nursery later tonight and getting some plots of St. Augustine Grass, and billing the city..

as for the water bill, that remains to be seen, I did request that they put a flush meter on my line until they resolve the issue, but they refused.. pretty much told me "prove it"

guess there are a lot bigger issues for them to deal with..

I talked to a couple of the restaurant owners of places I frequent, and several are talking class action against the city for negligence, 4 - 5 days loss of business is very damaging to people, all the employees not getting paid, all the sales lost..

I didn't read the links originally provided but I wonder why a chemical treatment wouldn't be effective?

not sure, 3 of the 12 city well were infected, and the wells where dumped, not treated into the sewer lines..

all the hydrants and pressure valves where opened and they flooded our city streets for 3 days..

I bet EPA is having a sh!t fit about them flooding the streets. Thats just going to pollute the **** out of the water that makes it to the ocean untreated.

the city has been out 4 times, and the hole keeps getting bigger and bigger, but has yet to be fixed..

What's the reason for expanding the hole?

the Claim is that the pipes (city water supply for their auto sprinkler system for the flower beds on the other side of that retaining wall) are leaking

the city "engineer" told me that the sprikler system uses reclaimed water and the pipes under my lawn are leaking into the drinking water supply..

sounds like a crock of $hit to me...
