Bailman,

It's been a while since these were designed and I can not recall the name of the product John uses, he has all sorts of professional speaker design software. He not only designs cabinets but also manufactures some of his own raw drivers (sub woofers at the moment).

Vas for these is in the 10 Ft^3 range (per cabinet) I have not considered wall mounting these, I would imagine they could even be Infinite Baffle if you wanted to trade off a lot of efficiency. I actually want to design them as bass reflex but with port plugs, so if the mood strikes me they can always be sealed or vented.

What was the reasoning behind doing Line Arrays? hmm... that's a good question, probably because "I can" and that's not mean as a smart remark, it's just that I don't have WAF to deal with (Wife Acceptance Factor) and I believe that bigger speakers sound better

There was no ribbon mid used because the SilverFlute ribbons can extend far enough that it's not worth going a 3 way route. These can dip into the 3K range with ease and the mids are strong into that range.

I wish I could post the FR plots from back when the "test" pair were designed. John had a web site crash and lost all his photos and data from the built. There are only 3 pairs of these in existence, the first pair he built as the test bed and were later sold. They were finished in figured maple and cherry. The FR plots were flat, +/- 1.5Db across the board.

Bob,

3/4 for the baffle, 5/8 backs, sides, tops and bottoms and 6" MDF half rounds on all the corners.

Thanks, but why not 3/4 top and bottom. Is there a specific reason? Very nice and not monetarily, but audiophile wise out of my league. I'm a firm believer in diy'ing if you can.
If an enclosure is built is it ok to glass the box or is there a sonic/resonance problem created.

Bob,

3/4 inch would be fine there is a ton of internal bracing that I didn't take photos of (all CNC milled MDF as well). I may actually do the rest out of 3/4" to save a little weight. I haven't purchased the sheets of MDF to finish the cabinets yet. This is a "long term" project I am in no rush to finish them, I have a fairly decent 2 channel setup as is.

There wouldn't be any issue glassing over MDF, the MDF it's self has a super low FS (Resonant Frequency) I believe FS for MDF is actually in the 13/16Hz range.
