if the outer edge is wearing he probably has an alignment issue.. perhaps he is like my mother and uses the tires to find parking curbs.... My mom goes thru brakes and tires within 10K - 12K miles on my Dads 1985 Ford Crown Vic..

when I was driving that car several years ago when I was between cars, I got over 25K out of the brakes and 35K out of the tires....

definitely sounds like a driver issue, and possibly and alignment issue..

I don't think his car was lowered. But he had staggered and directional tires, so he couldn't rotate. His rears were actually worse than his front tires. I heard him tell the Big O guy he wasn't doing burn-outs. But who knows, driving hard/soft it is all relative.

He drives an AMG and doesn't burn rubber. Give me a break!
Maybe he's the guy that was in front of me a few weeks ago? The wife and I were cruising down the limited access, in the right lane, when an AMG MB passed us in the left lane. He came up on a line of traffic in both lanes and had to cool his jets. He was maybe 50 feet ahead and to the left of me. I was entering a right lane exit ramp when he decided to exit from the left lane. I left him in and he took off down the long 180-degree ramp. At the bottom he caught a red light. I pulled up behind him. When the light turned green he lit up the rear tires bigtime. My wife asked what was he doing? So I showed her by dropping my right foot. When he finally got traction and started to move my wife said he gave me the middle finger salute. All I saw was his hand sticking up between the headrests as I was watching that I didn't grab traction before him and wind up in his trunk! At the next light my wife told me to cool it. I did, and so did he.

On my SRT8, I got 5k miles out of the stock F-1's rear tires and 8500 out of the stock front tires (they were showing the steel belts). Now that is piss poor milage. Fortunately, Goodyear replaced the rear tires free of charge (F-1's have no warranty) and the fronts they gave credit for 50%. Although I love the F-1's in warm dry weather because they stick like glue, I'd never buy another set. On my wife's Honda Odyssey, we got 60k out of the original tires and she is still on the original brakes at 67k miles. And that van is always packed with people and stuff.

outer edge wear points to the improper alignment. this is the thing to be fixed, but it is likely somebody likes to milk they guy selling him new tires every 8K
