Sorry, but it takes 1.57 gallons of diesel to make 1 gallon of biodiesel. So if you look at the price of biodiesel on the market, Oil Pricing Information Service (OPIS) it is much higher than regular diesel.

Yes you can take recycled grease and make biodiesel but it still takes more energy than buying regular ULSD diesel. Don't get me wrong, I love biodiesel, but it currently is not cutting it as far as any savings go.

I'm living as green as I can but Ethanol and Bio-diesel make no sense. I would like to see us cut all subsidies to farmers too!

What's up Der Haas!?

Pretty amazing to think back when this thread started that $110 a barrell was a long way off.

I wish it was $110 again.

I still think it would be "fair" if gasoline settled around $3.20 a gallon for premium for the next 10 years. But what do I know.

Time to put the truck up for sale........just kidding......sorta.......

Yep, and how about that $4.21/gal US for diesel! Everything we consume is trucked in, so look for everything to go up. Pretty sad when a trucking company in Arizona has to go to Mexico to get it for $2/gal just to stay alive.

New thread oil $150-$180 per barrel. I think we are headed this high. That means over $4 per gallon for regular 87 octane fuel.

In the US we can thank our gutless tree hugger congressmen for high gas prices. We should have been building nuclear power plants the last 30 years, using coal and hydro only for additional power generation. Oil and gas should have been reserved for home heating and transportation. Bio Diesel and Ethanol from corn etc. are another idiot idea promoted by our heavily lobbied government!!!!!!!
