Here it comes, $90-110 a barrel is within mere months. I may be wrong but I doubt it.

You Americans do make me laugh with your complaining about "dear" gas prices.

You buy cars that only do 15 mpg and then complain about the cost of running them.

Make your mind up time folks.

MTC

p.s. Unleaded is currently $6.50 per gal in the UK - See, you feel better already.

The public transportation in this country isn't what it's like in Europe. In lots of large cities they have nothing but highways.

I guess it's a trade off. Lower gas taxes but less public transportation. It all evens out in the end. I know lots of people that drive 1.5 hours to work each way and have no choice due to economic conditions of where they live vs. where they work.

Hi vvv90

it's exactly the same over here !!

Whilst the cities may have a passable public transport system, the rest of the country definitely doesn't, & a 1.5 hour commute each way is not that unusual.

Which is why we are so keen on our beloved diesels (35 mpg), that ease the burden a little bit.

Damn...Remind me not to move to the British countryside then.

BTW: I personally only fill up once a month. I take public transportation. If I did have to drive 1.5 hours to work I would definitely have a Prius or something.

If gas was $6.50 a gallon, I'd still have my 15 mpg SRT-8....

...I'd just bitch about it more.

We'd probably like diesels here if we could get the good ones, but our diesel gas is so poor that many companies opt to just not even import their diesel offerings rather than adjust the cars to work with our diesel. Supposedly by 2008 our diesel gas will be the same standard as it is in other countries, and BMW has said that as soon as that happens they will start bringing their diesels to the US.
Still though, I've said it before, gas prices are high because that's what the market will bear. They are high in Europe for the same reason, only in the US Exxon posts $36 billion profit in 2005 and the federal government doesn't tax the gas and in Europe the federal government does tax the gas and Agip doesn't make billions in profit. No matter what you do prices will be what the market will bear, the only thing that changes is who gets the money.
