I am one of the commuters, but I don't usually take the SRT. I commute 65 miles one way. The reason...because 65 miles bought me 4400 sq feet of house vs. 900 sq. ft. I refused to pay 700 or even 800 thousand for a 30 yr. old fixer-upper. 65 miles away, brand new house almost four times the size for less money.

I don't think anyone is complaining about the SRT's sucking up gas. I just think the prices are BS similar to California's "power crisis" a couple of years ago. Our rates went sky high, they shut our power off for "mandatory" blackouts even during 90 degree summer days, and made Billions of dollars. All of a sudden they discovered power somewhere and poof.....amazingly no more rotating blackouts.

Gas prices remind me of the same crap. The pricing is so volatile the last year or two. In just a few months it can jump to 1.50 a gallon for the same old excuses....Oh refineries are closed down for maintenance, or supply is short, or blah blah.. Then, like a miracle prices decrease a buck and a half again for a few months. And before you know it boom right back again up to 3.30 a gallon. Not long ago a big rise in price over a period of time would be a quarter a gallon. Now we can see that rise in one day. But what are americans going to do not drive? Gee, 36 Billion in profits..$$$$ Let's not get too greedy, we'll bend over the consumers for a few months and then let them recover from their gas paying whoas. Then we'll bend them over even farther! [/end of complaint]

Very well put! I agree with the whole thing.

I also think that as soon as one strong hurricane musters up over the Atlantic, prices will go to $90 a barrel. That should come anytime now

I remember when this thread first started. Yes Kings, your prediction seems to be on its way to fruition. Oh well, I’ve purchased some KY Warming Lube so I’ll be ready to be bent over the gas pump…..with a smile on my face.

i just read an article that the barrel of oil to the UK is a little cheaper than the US. Then i was wondering how come you guys pay so much more at the pump. Now i know why. What are the taxes? what do they pay for?

Hi hawk

I have to be really careful here,, but basically the governments are a lot more socialist in europe than in the US, and basically they bleed us dry in taxation to waste it on whatever fantastic socialist experiment that takes their fancy.
A hhhhhhhuuuuuuuggggggggeeeeeeee amount of our money goes on welfare & benefits.
