makes you weep doesn't it, to see the prices that we have to pay.

Mr Murphy, another altercation in the car park! you'll be developing a reputation at this rate!

What a lot of people seem to miss about the 300 in the UK is that value is only the first string in its bow.

The next time that Mrs Cat requires a trip to your local Asda/Walmart, have a smooch around the car park. 3 & 5 Series BMW's appear in such quantity it often appears to have rained blue propellor products! There will be so many pointy stars adorning bonnets one would be forgiven for thinking you had happened upon a Merc forcourt!

Then cast an eye for the winged grill! I'd be amazed if there were 2 (including Arnie) in the same car park! With only 1700 units destined for our fair shores this year we are guaranteed EXCLUSIVITY! If you come across the green eyed monster don't feel the need to correct their ignorance, simply bask in the knowledge that you have bought something that gives an impression of greatness far beyond its price tag!

So no more upset please Mr Murphy. Your corner of the land is reputed for calm and relaxation in a tranquil environment. I would be most distraught if i were to visit the UK's second most pleasant county and discover some poor sod splayed over Arnies' bonnet receiving an education in vehicle manufacturers from your good self!

All the best!

Uh huh!! Like dealing with excuses for static salaries, etc. while looking out the front window at a Bentley GT everyday (YES the real thing)...

p.s. I've just re-read my post and i realise that I have been a little unclear in what I have posted on this thread. I own the company and i have just bought a 300c. I've spent a wee bit on grills and mesh and the car looks like this .
I am so used to talking to the overseas "regulars" that I no realise that I should have clarified things a bit for you guys across the water.

Welcome to the age of National Socialism and all the whining cry babies who think life should be "fair" and everyone should be equal.

People need to possess admiration instead of jealousy.

You could always print some business cards to hand out to the "appropriate" person:

MTC, I can appreciate your anger. That attitude is one of the reasons my wife is this side of the pond.

There's an old story that goes something like this:

In England, a man hoists his young son to his shoulders, points, and says, "Son, see that man in that Bentley? He's the scourge of us working folk, he is. He steals the money from our pockets so he can swan around in that poseur motor car. Beware of him, my son."

In America, a man hoists his young son to his shoulders, points, and says, "Son, see that man in that beautiful Chrysler 300? If you study hard and work hard my son, some day you can also own such a fine automobile"

Hi NR

and in Canada the father says to the son, he won't get much wheat in the boot will he ? (sorry, I couldn't resist that one).

I love England and MOST things about England as well (wel at least my part of England where the crazies don't live) and I have never, ever encountered the reactions that you wrote above. I am SURE that they exist, it is just that I have never come across them before.

I try and holiday on America once a year (managed twice last year, way hay) and I love the gerneral upbeat and positive slant that seems to run through the country. I have never visited Canada (but I will do one day), but peple who I know that have done tell me that Canada is a blend of all the best things American, all the best things British, and then taken by Canadians and improved. Sorry I'm going off track a bit.
Your 2 sentence analogy could be replaced by one that I was told a little while ago.
An American will tell you all the reasons why something should be done and how to do it. A Brit will tell you all the reasons why it shouldn't be done and all of the things that will stop you doing it.

Todays another day and I'm off out for a run in Arnie to see some customers, I'll let you know how I get on later.

MTC

p.s. When did Mrs NR leave Britain ? a lot of things have changed in the last 20 - 25 years overe here.

MTC, Mrs. NR goes "home" just about every year and really enjoys just about all things Brit (except crowds and queuing up). Yes, things have changed - mostly for the better - she emigrated over 30 years ago.

The reality is - you find these attitudes, good or bad, just about anywhere you go now. I love Britain - the eccentric characters, the North Country humour, the car culture and the old restored aircraft - etc., etc.

When the 300 first came out here, somepeople just wouldn't accept that it was a Chrysler, so we know the feeling!
