So angry I could spit

I've just had a second customer come in and tell my manager at work that "if the boss has a Bentley he must be ripping me off and charging me to much for stuff" and then my manager has to placate them and tell them all about a greta value car it is and how much better value than a BMW, Merc, Audi etc.

And before anyone asks as to why he should have to, it's because these petty minded arseholes WILL take their trade elsewhere.

I'm bloody furious that in 2006 this attitude still exists.

The solution for the time being is going to be parking my car nose in - I feel like I am letting the dickheads win and it doesn't make me feel to good about myself.

Woa there MTC...

Just a touch of 'the green eyed monster' perhaps?

I would see these individuals personally, take them for a spin in your 'Bentley' then having explained exactly the prudence of your purchase, point them in the direction of your DC dealership. They may even bring you some new customers when they realise what a caring and careful chap you really are!

Take Care

I note from your sig that you have SS pillar posts. Geordie is a regular in the "overseas" section and I am sure that he would be interested in your opinion of the posts and any pictures that you have of them in place.

not at the moment Geordie, I'm still blazing about it.

The thing is, why should I have to justify the car of my dreams to some narrow minded tosser who probably wouldn't listen to me anyway.

For crying out loud my vans cost more than Arnie and no-one ever gives them a second thought.

I think when you're the owner of ANY business, one should be a bit discreet.

Drive a Camry to work, drive the Bentley, Ferrari, or whatever on the weekends.

It's not just customers who may have sour grapes; employees think it's a little showboat to display such excess to everyone.

hi teahead & kenm

If I have not mentioned it before I live in England where things aren't always as they should be.

The sort of car that a small business owner should have in Britain (as seen by the amount that they sell) would be a top of the range BMW 3 series that if equipped to the same level of Arnie would cost about £36500, which is £9000 (or about $16000) more than Arnie. If not a top 3 series, then mabye a mid range 5 series would seem to be OK. This would come in about £37000, which is £9500 (or about $16600) more than Arnie.

But both of these cars would be seen as being acceptable, whereas because people think I've now got a Bentley, some folk think that i am "better than I really are". The worst thing is, when they found out more about the car they are instantly placated.

Please don't get me wrong about the car, it is fantastic.. it is just that I have seen another side to human nature that I have never experienced before.

Kenm, my employees love the car and are pleased that i have got it. They know the hours that i put in and the sacrafices that I do for the company and the help that I freely give them when they need it.

ahh, I'm feeling better already.

ok a joke to make you smile that i've just had sent to me.

Charlie walks into his bedroom witha sheep under his arm and says
"Darling, this is the pig I have sex with when you have a headache"
His girlfriend is lying in bed and replies,
"I think that you'll find that thats a sheep, you idiot"
Charlie replies,
"I think you'll find I wasn't talking to you".

The other day we had a meeting with a client and the meeting included several vendor sales reps one of my salesmen and myself. We all meet at the clients place of business. As we pulled up in my new 300C, the vendors sales reps was still in the parking lot as we pulled up. Mind you he was driving a new Audi A8. As I get out of the car the vendor sales rep makes a comment to me. "I must be on the wrong side of the business". I am driving a $45K car and hes driving a $65K car. Latter the client had overheard the comment and says to me, "Ken I now how hard you work and the long hours, I can't belive he said that, you deserve it".

I just goes to show that anyone can be jealous of something they dont have!

Nice joke!!

Kenm

hi kenm

i'm calming down now.

The list price for a Hemi 300c in England is £32995 ($57750) on the road all taxes and delivery paid (& I think a higher spec than the American 300c) whereas a Audi A8 4.2 quattro tiptronic would sting you for £59950 ($105000) BEFORE you added the toys onto the Audi to bring the specs in line.

makes you weep doesn't it, to see the prices that we have to pay.
