PDX and window tinting

Hey there! I'm new to the PDX and new to being a 300 owner. Anyone down here know of a good window tinting place? I'm only use to the places near Seattle. Any info would be great. Thanks!

Hey man, sorry I didn't see this until today. I hope this isn't too late!

I did phone interviews with 3 or 4 shops and settled on Elite Window Tinting in Oregon City (on Mcloughlin blvd.)
Elite Window Tinting

Below is a post from my first experience:
http://www.300cforums.com/forums/ext...tml#post235807

Don't get hung up on my "bribe" comments. I just like to take care of the guys working on my car that do specialty work. A bottle of good booze and they'll remember you and give you that little extra detail!

I can't recommend this guy enough! I went with 35% and it's dark enough during the summer, but not too dark during our winter days. No hassle from Johnny Law (oregon tinting is 50% I believe). I went with the 35% 3M Prestige Window Tint (non-metalic)

Good luck!

Scott

Hey Scott. Good info.

I PM'd Mooner and sent him to Tommy's Window Tinting in SE Portland, just off SE 12TH and Belmont.

I'm curious...how much did your tint job cost?

Tint cost

I paid around $280. I just got off the phone with the owner of the shop and found out the actual 3M product was 3M CS (Color Stabilization) non-metallic tint, not Prestige (different product).

Just making sure I'm straight up with you all.

How much was Tommy's tint?

Tommy quoted Mooner $285 I believe. Not sure what brand tint but Tommy only uses good stuff so I'm pretty sure Mooner will be pleased.

Tommy tinted one of my rides 7 yrs ago. It still looks good and it wasn't an easy job with a large, completed curved rear window. (1995 Impala SS)

He's done my truck, my 350Z, the wife's Mitsu, the SS and the Yukon we had.

He and his wife Lisa are good people. He started years ago tinting from a small van. He's also hooked up with the right people in the performance and show crowd here in PDX. He can get performance parts at good prices as well, plus he knows what shops in town do the best work.

He's a good guy to know!

If you need a tint, some custom graphics or a 3M clear bra on anything, he's the man to talk to.

Thanks Michael and Scott for all the info on this. It has really helped me out since I am somewhat new to the area. I have an appointment Thursday at 12:30 at Tommy's. I'll let you know how it turns out! I think I am going with 35%. I believe they use SunTek and Solarguard for brands of tinting. I know that 3M is suppose to be the best and I am sure it is really good. But as Michael said Tommy's work lasts quite a while still maintaining the integrity. Tommy's wife (I think that was her) quoted me $235 which sounds like a very resonable price!

I'll let you know on Friday how it went.

Mooner, I saw your car today at Tommy's. How'd the tint job turn out?

Got mine done...30 on the sides, 20 on the rear window. Looks good! I'll take some pics if the sun ever comes out here again and post them.
