Factory 18" Wheels & Tires

Hi, Im upgrading to 22" rims so I dont need the factory ones. Im looking to get around $850 plus shipping. They are in perfect condition with just over 1000 miles on them. Ill post pics later

Edit: I dont even have 800 miles on my car yet :o ! It was early and I took an educated guess!

I recommend keeping them. I sold my 16" OEM wheels from my 98 E430 and had to buy another set of rims and tires (used) for better trade-in value 3 years later. I had some 17" aftermarket rims and every dealer, even used car dealers would not take the car, insisted on the OEM rims or either marked the trade value down. At trade-in dealers do not want a car with any aftermarket parts especially ones they can not replace. They can easily replace an OEM rim but many aftermarket rims are discontiued and no longer available to replace a bent or faded wheel, etc.

Here in the Northeast we would keep those as our winter set. I am interested in finding 1 rim/tire to replace the donut. I don't have the money to upgrade my rims from factory stock, but I would like to be able to have that full size spare.

Haven't looked really close, but seems I heard that the full size won't fit in the wheel well in the trunk, too wide as I recall.

Yep, that's correct. I tried to do the same and got nowhere with it. If you could live with your floor spare cover sticking up, you could squeeze an OEM wheel and tire in there.

The use of a full size spare poses a potentially big problem. The new 300 is the first car designed to pass the 50mph rear impact standard two years ahead of the requriement. The rear compact spare is mounted at an angle and designed to rotate upward and not into the gas tank or rear seat. The fittment of a different size wheel and tire back there not designed as part of the rear crash structure may the car's rear impact crashworthiness. What is up with the need for a full size spare anyway. In over 25 years of driving I have never had to change a flat while on the road. Yes, on rare occasion I have had a flat in the morning and either changed it or took the other car to work.

I agree with "II KINGS 9:20" If I had the self sealing tires I wouldn't care if I had a spare. The only time I would use a spare would be if I were on a trip, otherwise its triple A to the station. If I'm on a trip, 50 miles distance isn't a whole lot!

Good points. I hadn't heard about the crash standard. Thanks very much for the information.
